FIFA 20 - More than a shirt.....7 Nov 2019 17:19
Very excited when I saw the JD tweet last night, just as I was reading it on my phone my eldest son shouted down āDad, did you know you can buy a Bidstack shirt on FIFAāā¦so he as a consumer and I as an investor both found out at exactly the same time.
My excitement was somewhat muted when I realised that this was just a shirt sponsorship and nothing more, however this got me thinking;
Theory One
- Bidstack sales are all B2B, why would they want to be on a football shirt, nobody playing the game would need to know of them. However, it does demonstrate to other advertisers that someone can get their name on the front of a shirt, āin the gameā.
- Presumably there would be no benefit in advising potential advertisers of this fact unless, of course, that someone was not going to be them.
Theory 2
- Many of the other shirts are sponsored by Gaming Teams (in fact the majority are). They presumably promote FIFA, raise its profile etc.
- I would suggest these are all associates with a close link to FIFA and EA Sports, they have been invited to appear, I would assume, a mutually beneficial arrangement, you promote us and we will promote you.
- Why therefore would EA endorse an association with Bidstack, this makes little sense unless there is a mutually beneficial reason for doing so.
- If Bidstack are not going to sell advertising space in FIFA then who is? Clearly this is massive potential revenue that EA will not pass on. If EA are planning on using a competitor of Bidstackās then it would appear a bit of a faux pas to allow Bids to have a shirt, whilst they carry on negotiations with someone else.
Well to me there is only one explanation and I canāt wait for the news to formally dropā¦it wonāt be long, and FIFA could singlehandedly provide all the revenue Bids could ever dream of. FIFA is not a game, itās a brand and it will keep repeating year after year after year, all over the world!
