Just to add a bit of context 100MW is enough to power 16,400 homes so that is a medium sized town.

South Africa has been plagued with electricity shortages and load shedding for years so this new initiative will be particularly useful to Mining and Industrial companies allowing them to build hybrid mini grids of solar/wind and VRFB batteries to ensure continuity of supply from locally sourced Vanadium Pentoxide.

This is a game changer.

Great news from South Africa's President Ramaphosa today...The threshold for companies to produce their own electricity has been increased from 1 MW to 100 MW. This is a step in the direction and will create huge opportunities for VRFBs #Energystorage

South Africa is crying out for mini grids to to help ameliorate the load shedding on the South African grid. I think we will find this is the opportunity miners and Industrial companies have been waiting for. They can now generate their own power.
