Sure, Lyn Rees was so knowledgeable that he drove his own company towards bankrupcy. Yourgene stock traded £20 during Covid, and was trading at £0,18 just before they took over Novacyt.

I'm sure they are all experienced and knowledgeable, however, it is their ability to transfer that knowledge into a good running business that will be the one and only thing we shareholders should care about.

And i don't really see that happening.

Lets wait and see.

But if mr. Baldy will ask shareholders for more money after he burned trough Novacyt's cash position (and still hasn't made the business profitable), he should lose all his credentials directly and there should be consequences.

We should contact NHS ourselves because i doubt Novacyt is competent enough to get in contact with them, let alone sell Chicungunya tests.

101.8mln - 30.5mln current cash -16.7mln Yourgene takeover - +/-4mln restructuring costs = about £50mln burned over those 3 years.

Got a reaction from Novacyt IR relations today regarding the financial impact of the legal case:

"The Company would have an obligation to disclose if it considered the likely quantum of any penalty would be such that it would change the financial condition of the business, its performance or its expected performance. The Company has not made any such disclosure."

Which tells me the financial impact will probably be nonexistent.

So basically the decline in SP of the past 2 days is unfounded.

But the main question remains, what is the reason for today's -12% selloff?

The guilty pledge was already expected and came out yesterday around 4 pm giving a slight drop. I doubt it will have a significant (more than 100k) impact on the cash position.

Without further news and with the FTSE/Cac in the green today, i'm suggesting this is either a panic reaction (makes no sense given the news came out yesterday 3pm) or a round of SL hunting, given that there are probably many stoplosses under £0,47p/€0.57. There was a sharp drop between 13:30 and 14:00 and thereafter a quick recovery on high volume.

Exactly 5 years ago Covid took off in the UK, Novacyt share price rallied from 1 to 14 pounds and Novacyt made £130 million in profits in a single year.

5 years later, we have a cash position of £30 million and a share price of £0,45.

What a tremendous tremendous shame that the former (and current) board wasted such a great opportunity to build the business into a continuous profitable one, and even worse, that it loses more money that before the Covid pandemic.

It's a level of incompetence that is hard to comprehend.

But still... Give us some good news for f sake.

A guilty pledge, which means that the potential penalty is low enough not to fight against.

The penalty is expected september 11 2025.

Though i see a correlation between the absence of WBAFC and a climbing SP.

Some nice buys today aswell. 0.57 seems to be an absolute bottom until further news or outbreaks.

At this price point Novacyt is a great hedge against disease outbreaks and a declining market overall.

Today. Investors are gearing up for a H5N1 pandemic aswell as the current multiple measles outbreaks worldwide which is extremely contagious. Might require a lot of testing again.

Novacyt announced £3mln in cost savings which are not yet implemented.

They also said to go after further cost savings which could lead to an additional £2(?) mln this year.

And don't forget that Ranger is growing 13% Year in year, reproductive health 26% and Primer Design revenue decline is halted.

Lyn has said that the board is "comfortably confident" that there is enough cash to get to profitability and I trust him on that, given the cost savings and revenue growth in key area's.

And lets not forget Novacyt's golden shoe: a disease outbreak. We have Marburg and Ebola in Africa atm, H5N1 human cases in the US/China/Cambodia and infection tens of millions of animals worldwide atm, Mpox stil ramping trough Africa (new deadlier mutation detected last week), Norovirus at never seen before levels in the UK atm, SARS coronavirus detected in a bat in China which is far deadlier that 2020 Covid.

Just one human outbreak of any of these diseases (or others) is needed for Novacyt to get the cash position at £50-£100mln before 2026.

WBAFC reminds me of Nick Leeson in the movie "rogue trader" saying: "I wasn't running the position anymore, the position was running me"
