Erbil and Baghdad have signed a new oil export mechanism agreement. The KRG will retain 50,000 bpd for domestic use, with the remainder handed to SOMO for export. Following on-site assessments of technical issues and a series of extensive discussions, a definitive agreement on the export mechanism was reached on the 11th of this month.

Final implementation now awaits talks with Türkiye. It is now incumbent upon the federal government to finalize its own talks with the Turkish government to allow the full implementation of the process and the reopening of the pipeline to the port of Ceyhan.
