A top source in the Iraqi government told The New Region on Tuesday that a tripartite agreement between Erbil, Badghdad, and the International Oil Companies (IOCs) regarding the resumption of the Region's oil exports and the handover of non-oil revenues to Baghdad should be announced in the next two days if the Iraqi oil ministry approves the current proposal.

The New Region’s Baghdad correspondent further clarified that the main point of contention in the agreement is currently a proposal for the IOCs to receive their 16 US dollar compensation in oil instead of cash, which they can then sell in the international markets. The oil ministry’s committee of advisors is set to study the feasibility of the request and refer their findings back to the Iraqi cabinet, according to our Baghdad reporter.

The Iraqi government had previously refused to guarantee the 16 dollar per barrel compensation package for the IOCs. The New Region has reached out to the Association of the Petroleum Industry of Kurdistan (APIKUR), a conglomeration of international oil companies working in the Region’s oil sector, but has yet to receive a response as of the time of writing this article.

At the conclusion of its session on Tuesday, 16 September 2025, the Iraqi Council of Ministers issued two key decisions concerning the operation of foreign oil companies and the resumption of oil exports from the Kurdistan Region.

The regular session, chaired by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani, focused on resolving outstanding issues between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Baghdad has completed all preparations with companies purchasing oil produced in the Kurdistan Region ahead of the resumption of Kurdish oil exports after more than three years of suspension, Ali Nizar Faiq, director general of Iraq's State Oil Marketing Organization (SOMO), said on Tuesday.

SOMO “has completed all of its contracts and commitments with purchasing companies and is ready to receive quantities once pumped by the producing companies and the [Kurdistan] Regional Government [KRG],” he told the state-run Iraqi News Agency (INA).

Your chart on GKP is pretty much on the money...this is in a nice long term up trend channel.

While in the channel look for the top of the channel around 240p area.

I always look for positives on all charts...on this there's one or two little things on the RSI that may be a sign of possible short term future downwards pressure.

The RSI is below 50, always a sign of weakness, also a slight RSI negative divergence and its also broken its support from around April.

If this breaks below the channel and the 200 day ema line....it could go short term lower...especially if it gaps below the channel...it may just hold the channel bounce back.

Any drop below the channel would be a good buying opportunity.

The Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Natural Resources has sent a new letter to Baghdad, outlining proposals and information regarding oil production levels as well as the demands of the APIKUR - Association of the Petroleum Industry of Kurdistan companies.

According to the information provided, oil production in the Kurdistan Region has reached 270,000 barrels per day.

According to Channel8's sources, the KRG has stated it is prepared to resume exports without including APIKUR - Association of the Petroleum Industry of Kurdistan’s share of oil, but has also notified Baghdad that “if the demands of the oil companies are met, then the full 270,000 barrels per day (after deducting 50,000 for domestic consumption) can be delivered.”
