UK and US futures now up +2% - has Trump announced his tax holiday - I can't see anything ? I've just switched doomberg on but all I see is Biden up - and yes futures up including oil - maybe its the bombing in Iraq ?

Truly weird actually - US futures were marginally up but falling and UK future up according to doomberg - but lets see where they are at 7am. Up because I was feeling a bit hot in bed - oh ****

So I used the WHO exponential phase figure of x1.33 a day and up until 8/3/2020 we were bang on it, but since then we have stopped increasing cases exponentially - this would be due to changes of behaviour since about 2/3/2020. Clearly the Brits are not following Boris's wishes of filling up the hospitals so then process people are maximum efficiency before the autumn but are indeed starting to look after themselves. Growth rate staying at x1.33 a day would have us at 865 cases today

Absolutely, and don't forget the government's plan is to infect the rest of us over the summer so the hospitals don't get overfull in the winter. They somehow seem to forget that the Chinese have warned us people can be reinfected… and the second time it can be an instant citokine storm knocking affecting all major organs and the heart in particular.

Hi Treacle - just got back in here for 3 reasons 1) Higher low, 2) Government guidance to over 60s is not to go to shops so home delivery very good idea, 3) The derivative trading means even gold is now longer a safe haven - but everyone (who's still alive) has to eat so this looks relatively safe now.

People are selling gold to cover other losses. However gold may be losing its safe haven status as well - it hasn't been very safe of late. You can't eat it - and will it ever be a source of support for currencies when its price is so low compared with national debts. That should be an argument for gold to go up - but then it could be an argument for debt to be defaulted - now image what that would do...

100% agree. I am over 60 - my wife teaches 1:1 in schools, my daughter is in college, and my son is in 6th form. I could work from home but my employers say they are only going to follow government advice, and I honestly feel like they are trying to do away with me. Just hope the insurances pay out for my families futures... (if the human race has one of course).

Thanks for whoever it was who linked to the article - sadly I didn't save it. However I saw plenty of it yesterday after the USA opened up. Short sharp drops aimed at destroying positive sentiment in the gold market. Worked for them yesterday - I expect to see them try again today. One to watch folks.

Yes that's why the big boys like placings - because they scare the small investors off... (as well as giving big boys shares at bargain prices undercutting the market). I have sliced - if it wins I have enough still in - if it goes stale and falls - I will move profits from other goldies (well really this is a diamondie isn't it ?) to top up all over again. it should work out well for me eventually.

Just became the highest goldie riser in my portfolio.. unexpected - always a good sign
