Yes some funds charges .4 to .5% but over 10 years with £ 200,000 invested = £8000-9000 plus platform fees providing the funds then we are talking of double these figures......daylight robbery of investor!
Then investor might end in a very poor performance. Example of this is The famous successful Neil Woodford funds ....absolutely dismal performance !
Though admittedly selective share self investing dealing fees can be enormous too when adding stamp duties for some shares.
