RE: Who Is The Investor29 May 2026 10:34
Jubilee, the integrated copper producer and resource developer in Zambia, announces that it has secured a US$1.5 million unsecured convertible loan note investment specifically designated for the accelerated development of the greater Molefe region. The investor holds a successful track record in the development of various copper projects and formed part of the team behind the development of Mantos Copper and its subsequent merger with Capstone Copper (Investor).
Even though the announcement names Capstone Copper and Mantos Copper to establish credentials, it still structurally refers to the counterparty using the capitalized placeholder. This is a classic corporate legal mechanism. The financing vehicle (the $1.5 million Convertible Loan Note) is technically signed with a specific special-purpose vehicle (SPV), private investment fund, or a nominee entity controlled by that development team rather than Capstone Copper's primary listed corporate treasury.By detailing the exact corporate pedigree (Mantos/Capstone) without naming the specific private investment vehicle or individual signatures, Jubilee fulfilled its obligation to tell the market who they are dealing with operationally, while keeping the structural entity details confined to the formal legal circular.
The Mantos Copper Track Record: The team behind this investor originally acquired the Mantos Blancos and Mantiqueira copper mines in Chile from Anglo American back in 2015. They successfully restructured these high-cost assets, optimized their processing efficiencies, and expanded their life-of-mine. The Capstone Merger: In 2022, Mantos pulled off a massive $3.3 billion merger with Capstone Mining to form Capstone Copper (TSX: CS), creating a premier, multi-asset global copper producer. The Connection to Jubilee: This investor knows exactly how to scale copper assets and optimize refining circuits. Jubilee has explicitly noted that they are in discussions with this group not just for cash, but to leverage their processing and engineering expertise to scale production.
Will Jubilee release the Molefe presentation before the 8th or the 15 of June 2026? I guess so, to get buy in from shareholders.
However, will they use the additional funds to buy more exploration and mining licenses? Most likely they will do! Jubilee continue to play the cards close to their chest....
