EU vote14 Mar 2022 11:41
For those asking about the vote in the EU Parliament, here’s the information taken their website:
“ Cryptocurrency. A draft law to regulate the use of cryptocurrencies will be up for a vote by the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee. The new rules should cover crypto assets outside the EU, how to support innovation and mitigate risks as well as lessen the cryptocurrencies environmental footprint (Monday).”
So, it’s only a proposal from a select committee, rather than something being voted into law, so it shouldn’t have any immediate effect on crypto in the short term.
The bit about supporting innovation is interesting though - which company is pioneering energy efficient algorithms/mining techniques again???
