Sticking your neck on the chopping block there sheltie; its a long time to 24th February. First test will be next week. What will reaction be if BOE MPC decide to keep base rate on hold? Still a lot of potential banana skins along the road between now and 24th February which could change things. Hopefully on 24th February we all be happy!

Market does not like the Natwest results apparently? Currently down 4.7%.

HSBC and Natwest raised rates on fixed interest mortgages yesterday; Barclays will also raise their rates today, in expectation of base rate rise by BOE.

Well if you are a share holder, which I doubt, sell up and move on. Simples!

Looking good for finishing up today so a step in the right direction. Good results from Natwest tomorrow will strengthen sentiment and the investment case for the banking sector in general, and possibly give another little lift to Lloyds SP tomorrow? I am still cautious about the BOE MPC meeting next week. Everyone seems to think it is a foregone conclusion that there will be an increase in base rate. I think it will be a very close vote and could go either way, the Doves on the MPC seem to be making a lot of noise for no change and may convince others at the 11th hour.

The old adage a day is a long time in politics applies equally well to the financial markets! Most posting today have already forgotten the half year results 29th July which were very good, and the SP responded the same on market open that day as today, a good rise. But, the SP closed down that day! Another old adage, don't count your chickens until they have hatched, lets see where we are at market close today!

Unfortunately though the Market will! I think the Market in general today will fall today anyway in line with DOW last night and dampen or nullify any advance on SP, IMO. But, I sincerely hope I am wrong, but I have been kicked in the teeth that many times with this share previously I always expect to be disappointed! Anyway, GLA today!
