What relevance has you buying at 38.5p to what we are discussing now. The fall in all markets then was attributable to the worsening crisis in Ukraine. Nothing to do with people thinking "oh, the BOE MPC will raise rates at meeting on 17th".

OK, I'm all ears. Please enlighten me what other factors have contrived to make the SP fall on the news when the FTSE is up, bearing in mind US banks SP did not dive on news of an interest rate rise which was expected and priced in.

Yet if you go back through the posts on this board I don't think you will find any suggesting that the SP would go down on the news if confirmed, most were thinking SP would go up if rates did go up. The narrative seemed to be the market had priced in a 0.25% rise which to me says SP would be static if confirmed. Otherwise people would have sold days ago if a dip was to have been expected if rates did rise as expected. And look at yesterday across the pond with the US banks. Everyone expecting a 0.25% rise which happened and all the US banks made good gains which goes against your logic buy the rumour, sell the news.

I don't give a feck what anyone thinks, it's days like this when you think the MM's and City Wide Boys are doing their stuff and manipulating the SP. Everyone expecting a 0.25% rise which happened. And all the banks SP dives on the news, you could not make it up! US raised rates the same amount yesterday which was expected and all the US Banks made good gains on the news!

WASHINGTON, March 16 (Reuters) - The Federal Reserve on Wednesday raised interest rates for the first time since 2018 and laid out an aggressive plan to push borrowing costs to restrictive levels next year in a pivot from battling the coronavirus pandemic to countering the economic risks posed by excessive inflation and the war in Ukraine.

The U.S. central bank's Federal Open Market Committee kicked off the move to tighten monetary policy with a quarter-percentage-point increase in the target federal funds rate, lifting that key benchmark from the current near-zero level in a step that will ripple through a variety of other rates charged to consumers and businesses.

But more notably, new Fed projections showed policymakers ready to shift their inflation fight into high gear, with one policymaker, St. Louis Fed President James Bullard, dissenting in favor of an even more aggressive approach.

Most policymakers now see the federal funds rate rising to a range between 1.75% and 2% by the end of 2022, the equivalent of a quarter-percentage-point rate increase at each of the Fed's six remaining policy meetings this year. They project it will climb to 2.8% next year - above the 2.4% level that officials now feel would work to slow the economy.

The Federal Reserve raised interest rates by a quarter percentage point—the first increase in more than three years—as it looks to address surging inflation, which remains at 40-year highs, up 7.9% from a year ago.

Fed officials said in a statement that they predict six more rate hikes this year and three more in 2023 (up from a previous forecast of three rate hikes each year).

The central bank now sees a consensus federal funds rate of 1.9% by the end of 2022, though it “anticipates” that ongoing increases in the target rate “will be appropriate.”

Maybe I did not elaborate enough. So to clarify what I was trying to say, was that 95% of the current population of Australia are directly descended from the convicts deported from these shores. Apologies for any confusion.
