RE: RNS lacking money talk14 Aug 2024 17:22
"Until the government encourages / forces the UK pension funds and insurance companies to invest in UK companies, the market will moribund" of course Jeremy Hunt was trying to do this, and get PIs to do likewise with his UK ISA. But he hadn't thought through the detail. One of the hardest thing is to define what is meant by a British Company. Simply being registered in the UK and having a listing on the LSE isn't what he wanted - he wanted ones which earned most of their money in the UK. So you can set a limit: UK registered, LSE listing, and 75% (say) earnings from the UK. But businesses are dynamic - one new contract, or even just a change in the FX rates, and the % changes. all gets very messy and complicated.
