We've seen how efficiently the population is being vaccinated and you have to wonder if the US is capable of matching that, I don't think so - another reason to require treatment even more than us...

Bruce, please get your facts right before you start throwing out accusations. The efficacy was found to be 62.1% based on two standard doses (which is what they are currently going with), it was also found to be 90% having given a half dose followed by a second full dose. Taking the average of the two (and factoring in the smaller sample size of the second stumbled-upon dosing regime) gave a figure of 70%. Seeing as they are currently going with the two full doses 62.1% is not in anyway misleading...

In a sense we're probably entering a quiet period. Quiet in as much as a lot of the news is out there now and we are are a good few weeks off any trial news. The main thing we'll be looking out for this week is the official announcement from the NIH in the US of our inclusion in Activ 2. That will hopefully be the trigger for lots of discussion of interferons role in combatting covid and talk of synairgen directly. I'll also be looking out for more signs of IIs/funds buying and ideally a TR1 landing at some point.

As much as we'd all like Tom to get better I don't think that's RM's style to be honest.

Even before we start talking about vaccine evading variants I have to keep reminding myself that the majority of those vaccinated are not getting the MRNA vaccines, a large percentage of the world will be getting vaccines with much lower efficacies. Because the pfizer vaccine came first and the news was the most dramatic I have that 95% figure firmly in my head... the Ox/Astra vaccine, likely to be the cheapest and most available globally is far low at 62.1%.

I know first hand someone who died from this. It is accepted that many deaths early on were caused by a rush to ventilate patients who may have improved without mechanical ventilation and many in the medical community have acknowledged this. Since then conspiracy theories have exploded arguing that doctor's are intentionally intubating in order to kill patients or as in America, make money from it. Just one example of how these falsehoods and conspiracy theories cost lives.

The downside to something like the DT Questor recommending a share is that it will inevitably recommend a sell if it doubles in value. Anyone who is investing based on a tip in a newspaper should be bloody delighted with doubling their money in a matter of weeks and run for the hills.
