I know you're fearful Ghia but what alternative is there? The government is doing a good job of opening slowly and trying its hardest to stress that we aren't out of the woods just yet. As we are entering the summer months when we can spend more time outside the risk of transmission shouldn't be too high anyway. The plan to open up fully by end of June should give them enough time to see what effect the vaccines are having.

Let's not forget last summer much of society was almost back to normal and that was sans vaccine. I remember the south coast beaches at times being busier than I've ever seen them, many people were going on holiday between the lockdowns. Rates stayed low throughout that time, it was only the encouragement to start eating out and socialising in August/September/October that caused the treacherous winter we've just endured...

Airlineboy, call me controversial but I'd go as far to say £9.11 billion would give us more per share than Dylan's Ninety Eleven Hundred Pounds prediction!

We certainly can't make a like for like comparison with GenMark but it does bode very well for us - I would think it points to at very least a similar valuation, so something like £18-£20 a share.

We're all hoping for the HT results soon but if we take RM by his word there isn't likely to be news this month.

Livelif, that's not true either. If the tiny fraction of society who can't take the vaccine on medical grounds were instead given an exemption but were more stringently tested pre flight that would at least put to bed your claims of discrimination against the medically vulnerable.

And I'm not talking religious exemptions or anything like that - I'm talking medical grounds.

I'll post it once Livelif posts their evidence that those unable to take the vaccine on medical grounds will be discriminated against and treated as second class citizens - that post got more recommends after all.

Absolutely not true - vaccine passports would be issued to those who are not able to take the vaccine on medical grounds. I'm against vaccine passports but pretending they'd penalise the sick is simply false.

Geordie, it's more than possible the company makes close to £30m a year from covid test sales alone. Yes testing will fall but it will still be needed in clinical settings in perpetuity and we are one of the main suppliers to the UK and (hopefully) growing globally. We're also entering a period where diagnostics is going to be a word on politicians' lips and funding is only going to increase in this area now as Boris continues to talk of building a world leading diagnostics sector. Then you've got the move to decentralisation of testing which novacyt are well placed to benefit from or even take a central role and finally they'll have hundreds of millions to grow through R&D and M&A.

This really isn't the same company as twelve months ago and never will be again.

Jungla, the only issue I have is there are many members who are quite hypocritical. When we got the Numis target we got numerous posters saying as broker they will be the closest to the business and know what's coming but when another broker gives us a rubbish target suddenly they have an ulterior motive or don't seem to understand what's about to come.

Personally I don't know enough about how these things work to know if Oddo have genuine reason to give such a low target and have us as fairly valued at £7 but as I'm so heavily invested I hope to god they have it completely wrong.

The difference being that covid is a virus which makes you ill, so the vast majority of people who test positive for covid that go on to die relatively quickly likely have died due to complications of the virus. Obviously a small fraction will recover and then unluckily get run over or murdered or something else but the percentage will be enormously small.

It just means they consider us fairly valued at this price, it's less a target and more a 12 month forecast.

To be honest I wouldn't be bothered about having the vaccine if it was just for me but the vulnerable people in my life want me to before we all socialise together again.

There has been no link proven between the vaccinated and some of the health issues a very small number of people have had since - it all feels very political to me. I'm booked in for my Ox/Azn vaccine this week and have absolutely no concern about it.

I think the comparison with yourgene is interesting. They would, of course, love to have cornered more of the PCR market and have seen sales double or even more this year, instead they are seeing overall increase in revenue of about 10%. They were about 5 or so times larger than ncyt pre coronavirus and now about a quarter of the size currently.

The PCR market seems to me to be a bit of a closed shop, with just a few companies getting the lion's share. The great thing for us is we are one of those very few companies...
