Whatever we think of Malcy on VOG, no doubt it will help bring attention to VOG - just when Roy is about to announce his new strategic plan. Perhaps this is the beginning of a PR campaign leading up to that strategy announcement?

RussellSprout - love the name, always makes me laugh - As you allude, it was a general comment about tipsters.
More specifically, with PPC we know PL often is promoted by Malcy, and that the The Doc and Malcy (and Cassopeia services and other twitter rampers such as Chris Oil) often seem to push a share at the same time - not a coincidence in my book.
PPC might see this as more as general publicity to raise the profile of the company having done a transformational deal with Trafigura -your example of working against their immediate self-interest at 2.5p being a minor event in the grand scheme of things.
This company should be valued much higher - if some professional tipsters can wake up investors to its attractions, all well and good.

Bobby - imo The Doc is much about short term self interest. (People like Oilman Jim might add [perhaps hypocritically?] to beware of professional tipsters, they can be employed by companies to promote a share ahead of a placing - so be warned). But, no doubt, he will help pull the punters in and his recommendation should create interest in the share.
Personally, I would only invest after having done a lot further research.

Thanks, N2M. That really made my day. Have felt somewhat unloved on the SAVE board of late, after going against the grain; and didn't know my thoughts were appreciated by some.
I think we've picked a good one here.
I've only just started building a stake, picking up a few more early morning; but funds are short until my bigger holdings skyrocket. To me, the Trafigura connection is 'transformational' as they say. Also, unlike SAVE, IR responds to emails quickly and with care.
I'll try and build a bigger stake here, but think this may double quickly once investors take a more positive outlook on this one (though I'll keep an eye out for, and avoid, if possible, further placings). Let's see what they have to say on the 22nd.

I was hoping for merger/takeover at 13p+ (the price YF Finance paid) which values the company at $33.5m. Doesn't seem unreasonable?

Yes, I was in RRE from £3.50 - £5.30, so not unhappy with that. I'm now in JSE, preferring their nearer term prospects than RRE, and the Far East markets rather than the North Sea. I think some of the RRE money will find its way to JSE as about the only other 'late-stage developer' of assets on the AIM market.
How it might help VOG though, is perhaps punters looking for increased M&A activity now?

beardozer - in my scatty notes (I can't find sources immediately) I note that operating costs are $13.8 /bbl and G&A $4.8 /bbl. Somewhere else I've got written netbacks are $21.5/bbl. If you want to go back through the research you should find the sources to make more sense of this. But it suggests to me generally that we are making money at $20 a barrel.

3CB - ' I do believe that MT's assertion that Sparrow is Bingo has some legs.' - I assumed you were joking at first (Who is Bingo?), but if you seriously believe this then, for your own sake, perhaps discuss this with someone appropriate.

The plan I'm working to, BS, is a share price at year end of 7p+. That's all that counts. If it's still at the 3p / 4p level, I'm out. Time and Tide wait for no man.

For recovery, the development with Etinde/Aksa is crucial to success (and may result from a NewAge / VOG merger. [Kerogen is NewAge's major shareholder; Roy Kelly and John Daniel are ex-Kerogen].

I am a big fan of 'management'. This is key to success. Back good management (my major holdings are JSE and TXP) and you are likely to succeed in this game. My main losses have come from management being lying cheating bastards. I looked at VOG about 3 years ago, when Malcy first started bigging them up. I took one look at Foo and Dik and instinctively did not trust them; and luckily, did not invest here. Use your instincts.

However, Roy Kelly seems a good egg, and competent with it. He has shown himself to be strong and decisive in both ENEO debts and the ridding of Andrew Diamond. He is shaping up to be a CEO well worth following imo.
