Someone else seems to agree with me that the bauxite project is also an opportunity for VOG/GDC ('hydrocarbons') ? :

(Business in Cameroon) - Camalco, a subsidiary of the Australian junior mining company Canyon Resources, which holds three permits on the bauxite deposits of Minim-Martap, Ngaoundal and Makan, in the Adamaoua region, meets with economic operators Cameroonian on March 17, 2021. The consultation will take place in the premises of the Groupement inter-patronal du Cameroun (Gicam), in Douala, the economic capital of the country.
“ This is an exchange meeting between the recently appointed general manager of Camalco, Rick Smith, and potential partners for the development of the bauxite plateaus of the Makan, Minim-Martap and Ngaoundal permits ”, emphasizes -on at Camalco. According to this company, the potential partners targeted by this first meeting are those active in the sectors of land and rail transport, logistics, port activities, construction, hydrocarbons, telecommunications, as well as the concessionaires of machinery and equipment. heavy, cement producers and steel mills.
Concretely, this Camalco initiative pursues four main objectives. These include, says the company, developing a significant part of its local content, by involving local companies in this important new project in the Cameroonian industrial sector; give all the keys to companies wishing to improve or organize themselves into a consortium, or even carry out joint ventures with foreign partners in order to support Camalco SA in this project; identify and get in touch with companies whose local experience will be an asset for the success of the project; and display its positioning regarding local content, which is clearly one of the keys to the success of such a project.
As a reminder, according to Camalco, the Minim-Martap and Ngaoundal deposit could make Cameroon the world's largest bauxite reserve. According to the latest analyzes carried out by the company on 16 of the 79 bauxite plateaus identified, the potential of this bauxite deposit now reaches 892 million tonnes, including 250 million tonnes at "? very high grade ?", ideal for the production of aluminum.
According to James Durrant (pictured), the head of the Minim-Martap and Ngaoundal bauxite exploration project at Canyon Resources, analysis of the remaining 63 plateaus should bring the potential of the deposit to around 2 billion tonnes of bauxite. Which would make it "probably the largest deposit in the world, in quantity and quality, ?" he says. On the strength of these new results obtained on the project, Canyon Resources and its subsidiary Camalco are already planning to launch the exploitation of this bauxite from the year 2022.
