The article is nothing short of a joke. Thurning, and Glutton are miles away and I mean miles, thurning as a population of around 40 people. There is strong oppisition to the site, and with Corby Council facing a bill of over £20 million from the steel works clear-up, after children were born with defects, I doubt at this stage any Council will give planing permision . Another factor is the site is close to RAF Wittering, an active airforce base for fighter jets, bordering the site. Northanmptonshire council have a problems and East Northants District Council, whose area it falls in are facing oppistion from all of the local area and towns, and that population runs to10 of thousands. You also have oppostion from the historic town of Stamford, Burhley Hall, Linclonshire council have vowed to fight the site.

They have a few sites in this part of the country, also there are many new quarrys being opened and worked here. As the stone is removed, something as to go back in its place, and not water. These quarrys become ideal for waste, and I have no doubt Augean have aggreements in place to take over the quarrys once they have become exhausted of Stone. I understand MM now, thanks. We dont always see what happens long term, but with landfill sites becoming scarce, Augean are in my opinion well placed in this area to capitalise on the quarrys. Cheers Gyp

My comment yesterday was a simple one. I never claimed to be in the know, and stated I asked a nieghbour who is part of the planning commitee a few questions. I did not say what questions i asked or his answer's. My main point was a landmark ruling at the high court ruled in favour of the people who suffered from the transporting and dumping of toxic waste. Bearing in mind Augean are attempting to get permission to dump low level Nuclear waste at a site near Corby, via a planning app. This ruling may effect the planning app by Augean, as Corby Council as already spent 2 million trying to defend against toxic waste dumping, and ENDC planning will take this into account more seriously now. This ruling could efffect the whole industry including Augean. I dont know what an MM is, perhaps you will enlighten me. I posted what I thought may be useful information. I am considering investing in BA share's. I dont have any expertise in buying or selling shares, no investing knowlege. I think Branson is way off with his comments and his worried about his own companys poor performance. British Airways has a fleet of some 240 Aircraft , with another 50 on order and options on a further 60. I cant imagine Boeing or Airbus allowing BA to go burst, it would destory both companies, and flood the market with one of the most modern aircraft fleets, thus costing 100's of thousands of jobs in the Aircraft industry, not to mention ground staff at airports around the world. Those c osts outway BA debts and pension costs. May be American Airlines will merge with BA. Funny how Virgin only have 30 aircraft and cant get anymore slots at Major Airports in the States
