Baz, that's quite an immature comment when a company is deep into a project to prove up the weald oil play. What do you mean about not caring about shareholders? No dividend? No rise in price to your sell point?
Look at the range of this share in the last 12 months. If one wanted to trade this share and make big returns it has been great. If one is in this for the long term, then they can wait for the expected news in due course. If they don't and want neither then I suggest to them maybe get out (of course Imo blah blah).
A few years ago the CEO was branded a liar, even on a BBC documentary as there wasn't so much as an egg cup of recoverable oil down there. Now it's coming out and they're working on the very well documented goals (refer to RNS list), it's a new bunch of insults thrown at them.
As Jack Welsh said ...Shareholder value is a result, not a strategy . . . Your main constituencies are your employees, your customers and your products.
i.e. - If they prove this up and get on with the job with a postivie outcome, shareholder value will come.
