I use AI a lot, both for work and personally, and have subscriptions to good models that aren't available for free. I see it produce phenomenal research and absolute nonsense regularly. In terms of posting AI content on here, my own opinion is, please just label it properly and clearly. Do what you like but if you're posting something under your name then it should be written by you - so if it was written by AI then please put quotes or some other demarcation around the genAI content for clarity. That would be useful to the people who want to skip past it. I'd also suggest including both the prompt and model to make it more useful to the people who might choose to read it. I'm a lot more likely to read something generated by o3-Pro or deep research, prompted with a couple of relevant scientific papers, than 4o prompted with a simple question. If I don't know what the prompt or model was, I'm going to assume it's probably nonsense and skip it.

I used ii for 5 years or so in the 2010s (different business model). I looked at moving back to them recently but their FX charge is extremely high now if you're investing from an ISA. I'd be wary of that if you invest in foreign companies as they don't advertise the FX fee anywhere near as openly as the monthly charge. I think it's a pretty sleazy way to hide the real cost of using them. I spoke to them on the phone about it and they admitted it was a pretty common reason for people to close their accounts. AJ Bell have a fairly cheap model if you mainly invest in companies - it's more if you mainly invest in funds.

Scinv, I don't think you're a bitter person. I think you're on the spectrum and unaware that you're fixated on some detail, perceived as deception and aimed squarly at you, which in reality was likely some optimistic/naïve statement long forgotton by everyone else here.

I think you're completely oblivious to the fact that most reasonable people see this as a speculative investment with a 20-30% chance of a 1000%-4000+% upside.

Maybe they've just appointed a new experienced corporate broker to help with expected growth and new institutional investors..

Hopefully the price stays low for a while so the buybacks have a bigger impact.

As someone who works in London a few days per week, I can say that Thursday is the new Friday. I'm other words everyone works from home on Friday so knocks off early to go down the pub on a Thursday now instead. If the market maker knocks off early and then someone buys, they pay the next best price which is higher.. That's my guess anyway.

For me, this is one of the best deals currently available anywhere. I'm glad the price has dropped again as I've been able to finish loading up. I'm guessing the CMA results will be out soon and this will either go up or down one last time before people start to realise later in the year just how phenomenally cheap this is - 20% discount on it's liquidation value with as close to zero percent chance of failure as you can get, and every chance that earnings and buybacks will send this through previous highs fairly quickly.

I think there are always many reasons people sell. They bought in lower and want a quick profit, they messed up elsewhere and need to dig themselves out of a hole, they think they found a better thing elsewhere and want that new thing, or maybe they think there's going to be financial chaos soon and this is too risky..

Personally I've bought as much here as I can justify based on % of portfolio. I do however regularly mess up, bought in lower than this SP, spot other things I want and think there's incoming financial chaos 😂

Can't give advice but I would look into capital gains tax implications and whether one might want to only move some of the total into the ISA in order to avoid triggering capital gains tax. It might also be worth checking with the broker if Bed and ISA is supported - this is where they handle selling the shares in the dealing account and immediately repurchasing in the ISA. This means only paying the trading fee once, instead of once for the sell and a second time for the buy. It also executes quickly, so just lose out on the spread.

Fyi okfornow said that they were "not sure" about something and ToD's "microagression" was ending their reply with "filtered". People can say they aren't sure about something in a public chat - if you don't like that they said it then there's no problem at all with blocking them - replying "filtered" and stating that you don't like that they didn't do the research themselves is unnecessarily aggressive.

The market is a voting machine in the short term, a weighing machine in the long term.

I just learned Hershey's Q4 2024 earnings call mentioned the potential to use cellular agriculture for cocoa as a long term solution. In response to a question on timing they said not near term but it's getting a lot of investment right now and is something to watch.

Maybe not, but it's amazing what an enormous leap forwards we've seen over the past week in terms of awareness of these technologies.

Thanks for highighting the recent news Pask and others. I think it's inevitable and expected that we're in this pre-tipping point period. We haven't yet reached the threshold where more than a few very early adopters start to accept the idea that this technology is going to be big (and that's currently an opportunity, not a problem). What do people think about the potential of Big Fan Games? I've been thinking that the idea of having industry insiders with contacts go directly to IP holders (where that IP is not currently being utilised - so low risk to impact big ongoing projects) with offers from great independent developers who are enthusiastic about creating games with that IP, has the potential to result in some amazing deals down the line. Attention grabbing IPs combined with the ramp in productivity small dev teams can gain from AI helping them code and develop faster, I'm quite excited about how fast this company might grow.
