You say "No it's quite standard..." but I didn't say that attempts at manipulation aren't normal. His comments don't come across to me as naïve attempts to manipulate sentiment to affect SP (as if that would be possible with a company with these volumes - you need a printing press not a small internet forum), it comes across as driven by an unhealthy relationship with his own ego.

It's healthy and normal for people to post their thoughts on VTY here, regardless of whether they're positive or negative, related to company fundamentals, macroeconomic context, management performance, political context, technical analysis, related news, etc. I don't think Betterlife is short VTY and being manipulative, which would frankly make more sense than what we're seeing. I think Betterlife is very much unaware of his own behaviour and why he says the things he says. And he's unaware of how it comes across to everyone else here. I'm not sure what's driving the behaviour but it's probably behaviour that's pervasive in other areas of his life and makes his life pretty miserable and he should consider speaking to a professional about it. It's not healthy or normal to post comments publicly that are intended to antagonise strangers, attempting boost ones own ego by looking down on others. It comes across as a bit pathetic and sad.

The CEO explicitly told everyone that not talking about Modi1 results was a strategic decision related to iscib1+ negotiations.

Of course it's early stage, they don't make any money and their method of making money hasn't been scientifically proven. Scientific proof requires a randomised controlled trial. We don't know with certainty how the randomised controlled trial will be funded! That is the definition of early stage and if you buy the idea that it's all guaranteed then you're fooling yourself.

That doesn't mean it's not a very promising asymmetric bet with a good chance of success.

Any good news stories will pull attention, and there's a window where that attention is most beneficial. If the good news came out 4 weeks ago and pulled in new interest, then those people lose interest between then and the raise and take their money off to the latest front page AI story, then that's not ideal. It would be serendipitous if the good news creates attention which creates momentum which peaks as the raise occurs. Timing is difficult though. As they say, invest in the story on page 15 that's heading to page 1 at some point, and don't worry about when it's going to hit the front page.

Scancell is and has been a speculative investment in a pre-profit company with a long road to profitability. It's a risky bet and it has always been that. It will continue to be that for a while to come. It's exciting and the science is promising and lives could be saved. I don't agree this recent news is out of left field, far from it. The RNS mentioning the new CFO experience with Nasdaq listings combined with the fact that a reverse merger is the easiest and lowest cost way to list told us this was likely. Maintaining ownership of the IP by self funding is the slower, riskier but ultimately more profitable route that maintains full control. I imagine a big pharma partnership would've derisked the situation at the cost of giving away a big cut of future earnings, and who knows what control over the plan would've needed to be given away too. I imagine that a buyout would've given investors a quick return but also given the IP away for cheap along with 100% of the control.

In my opinion a partnership or sale gives you a quick buck, a move to Nasdaq and a raise to self fund give you a slower riskier route to a much bigger return.

If you want a 100-500% return on your investment in 5-10 years (from the time of purchase) what are you doing investing in early stage biotech? Go and invest in AMS:ACOMO. I'm invested here with the part of my portfolio that is for very high risk very high return asymmetric bets and it's looking pretty good to me.

The biggest concern I have is the fact we're going to the US. It's where all the money is, along with rapidly increasing geopolitical and economic risk. Though it's not like the UK doesn't have similar in that regard so we'll see.

I just wanted to chip in to say that I still own Scancell - actually doubled my holding since I last posted here and I'm 100% up on my overall purchase price. So it's going well and I don't intend to sell. I follow Scancell, the science and this forum regularly.

I've completely stopped posting here because of the attitude of a few bad apples who do things like tell others what they can and can't post and accuse anyone who has a question or comment that in any way could be interpreted as slightly pessimistic or concerned of actually being some sort of stooge or malicious actor with a sinister alterior motive. To those people, you harm the open flow of information, open discussion and collaboration which makes a community robust and valuable.

Can anyone provide a perspective or speculate on the lack of information on modi-1? I don't understand the rules around disclosure - when do they have to disclose what they know? The CEO's comments sounded to me like it was a strategic decision not to make the data public in case it complicates negotiations on the iscib1+ p3 with potential partners - is this other people's understanding? I would've thought that positive news on modi might (although this hasn't always proven true) move the sp up, which would put them in a stronger negotiating position.

Probably the insider traders at the 3 letter agency going all in last week getting out now they've realised they won't be making the quick buck they hoped for.

I should add that while this is 20% for me due to the SP move this year, and I have another speculative investment at 5%, the other 75% of my portfolio is in very defensive value investments, one of which is a very big volatility hedge. I wouldn't presume to be smart enough or qualified to give anyone advice but I will say I view this as the high risk corner of my portfolio.

I'm almost embarrassed to say my average is 3.42p. I was looking through AIM at the end of last year in reverse market cap order after selling all US assets for what I think are obvious reasons and stumbled upon this. I bought in heavily at 3.95p after a lot of research and since then sold a bit to bring the average lower. It's 20% of my portfolio right now and pretty exciting.

Honestly, people who pop their heads up only to shout insults into the void tend to be reflecting their inner state.

I expected progress at solar foods but it's good to hear - I did not expect good news at Geltor. I think it would be reasonable to expect over half of the portfolio to fail in time - and if only half fails then we'll do extremely well. I thought Geltor seemed like one that would go pop early, and I was just hoping the timing wouldn't be bad. Glad to hear they still have the lights on and are pushing forwards..

When I was researching ANIC prior to deciding whether to buy at the end of last year, apart from investigating the portfolio companies, I spent some time listening to JM talk about other things. One thing I heard him say is that one of his favourite investments was Prudential plc. I looked into it and agreed so I bought some. I just sold Pru for 65% gains in around 10 months (because I know of even better options now). The other thing he mentioned as his favourite investments back then were gold and silver, and we all know how that's been doing. It's good to know that his other investments are doing so well - that's not only evidence of other good decisions but also suggests capital is available should he think some is needed to accelerate some of the more promising portfolio companies (even if it has to be outside of ANIC).

The article mentions a french company using fermentation to make beta-lactoglobulin. I've noticed a shift in people talking about wanting and consuming higher protein diets, and those products appearing in greater numbers and in more prominent places.

I don't know about the others - they aren't the topic of this board - but I know that this company is not doing that. In fact this company is benefitting massively from this government. I just hope that the people being tricked into believing Farage and his specialists in anger and hate don't get to find out just how badly they're being tricked. If that does happen I will have sold this company and moved most of my money out of the UK.

I agree, this wouldn't happen unless the people involved know the stakes are very high, and we own the winner. Just hope a lot of money isn't wasted and it can be wrapped up efficiently.

Great news on Clean Food Group, I didn't pay as much attention to them early on in anic research but they look very promising.

I used indexes as an analogy because I think there are parallels. To me the story is one of cyclicality and the past tells me this is cheap right now because of cycles and sentiment. I only invest in companies too, a concentrated portfolio of 7 companies. Vistry is one of them, because of how the strategy and share price have both improved so significantly over the last few years. I think the main negative for me right now is macro risk, but I'm hedged against that in other ways. Despite what some people here think (who are themselves IMO stuck in a doom loop) I think a Labour government is more beneficial to VTY than any other government would be, and the share price right now is fantastic. The strategy is to return significantly to shareholders via buybacks and to position themselves as the key piece in the housing shortage puzzle via the partnerships model. I think a very strong 10 years is the most likely outcome for Vistry.

People complain that the UK market has returned so poorly compared to the US. Actually the FTSE 250 returns were very similar between 2001 and 2023 when compared with the S&P500, however the FTSE 250 returns were mostly in the first half of that period rather than the second. Now, if you only ever look in the rear view mirror with a 10 year horizon then you might end up one of the people expecting 8%/yr (or even 20%/yr of you're short sighted!) out of the S&P500 at a time when it's so expensive it might return nothing over the next 10 years. Rear view mirror is fine but don't only look back 10 years.

The first thing I thought when I saw that buy was that a new or existing client of Vulpes had funds to invest in his Life Sciences fund. I'm assuming it doesn't mean he personally chose to invest more of his own money? Am I wrong?
