Agree that we'd be as dead as a dodo if we didn't have the cez partnership but it is still bewildering that we've just watched the 2030 cez roadmap and we were given a presentation that may as well never mentioned lithium.
Jeez, you can't watch TV or read articles online without coming across the tidal wave of news regarding ev's, lithium and all the concerns regarding supply. I'm not naive enough to think that those in the CZ Republic are not aware either. So it must be asked....why? Why was there virtually no detail in the presentation for cez investors/shareholders regarding this and why are we seeing discrepancies in major milestone dates that appear different to what emh are saying? Is it incompetence, an error or something else?

Nonetheless it is pretty disappointing to be a footnote at the end of the presentation....

Like others it appears we can't access the stream. I found a link to download the presentation but unfortunately it's in Czech. I've had a look through it (49 pages) and there appears to be no mention of gigafactories or cinovec unfortunately.

Agree and a read across to a certain German geothermal project could run into similar problems with local residents.

4 years ago we sleepwalked into the cz elections with babis making all sorts of noises about an Australian company stealing their lithium. We shrugged it off as posturing. This time who knows what happens if another party gets in. Would it not be prudent to do a bit of research and try to find out? Chances are emh will be ok but why not cover your backside?

Skelly, be a happy clapper if you like but I for one will look at the good and potential bad info. With that I'll post it for other emh holders. If you don't like it use the filter button

Sorry ant can't answer that one but it's interesting. Maybe there will be consensus between car manufacturers to use someone else's IP on battery design, even if that company is in direct competition. Maybe a bit like lg selling it's oled TV panels to Sony.....

Then VW are under no obligation to build any of their factories in cz. Cez will not supply all of their batteries to VW, it makes no sense to me. They will be looking for multiple customers.
As an aside, because it is easy to think of this as emh related (indirectly it is) but from the lithium supply side, Piedmont do not allow offtakes from partners greater than 20%. There's a reason for that....

Because presumably they want a share of the battery market. Otherwise why even build a factory. Leave it to VW ?

Yes, thats a possibility but what I was getting at , chemical makeup of the batteries aside was the mechanical/physical makeup of the batteries themselves not the chemistry. And due to this difference that could unduly affect the layout of the gigafactory.

With VW having announced a technical chinese partner for their battery packs ie Chinese design of packs that will be utilised across the majority of their product range. This leads to the question of where does that leave a VW/cez partnership plant in the cz Republic. Assuming cez would want to have their own battery design then a battery plant running with 2 different designs complicates matters somewhat.
I think we need to concentrate ourselves on what geomet does ATM....

So there we have it. 3 gigafactories down, 3 to go. Again no mention of raw material suppliers. Perhaps VW are undecided or want to play suppliers off one another in order to tighten the price screw. Its maybe now a game of chicken with poker faces aplenty. Hopefully we'll get some crumbs of news next week.....

I agree that MO appears to be genuine with no agenda. As always politics will dictate how things pan out to a certain degree. However, to counter the Russian/cz happy clappy relationship I've copied a link from May this year.....lol

It certainly feels a little on the far-fetched side of the scale. Does anyone know of any russian gigafactories? The only one I can find is related to Tesla.
For arguments' sake, if the Russians do get involved and gazump the EU in lithium supply what will happen the the Czech rep as a consequence? They (imo) would be ostracized by the whole EU setup, foreign investment would dry up overnight and be left as a pariah state. Do you think they would really want that to happen for €100 billion + in lithium revenue?
