Fingers, the prices you are quoting are spot prices and not contractural or offtake prices but I agree that there is a definite disconnect between Li price and sp prices of miners. Hopefully it’s a lag thing and we’ll all catch up soon

Another Tim Worstall article…..hmmm. He came to my attention a few months ago when I stumbled across another of his articles written for the same website about the viability of Cinovec. A quick glance at his thoughts would give anyone on here that’s been following the emh story cause to pick holes in his arguments. It’s obvious he hasn’t read any of the pfs presentations etc. My advice would be to ignore him…

Good article but again all their talk of new models, electrification etc but no word on raw material supply. Bizarre.

Let’s not forget the shareholder agreement, first dibs for cez. They are the kingmakers here and the direction of travel will be determined by them. However, a tier 1 partner in whatever form would for me cement the intent to make Cinovec THE primary source of lithium in Europe.

TC, I completely agree and have said as much over the past few months. Do a quick search online and you’ll find more and more business analysts coming to the same conclusion. Have a look at the latest rock stock podcast on YouTube and you’ll see what I mean. Unfortunately large and well known OEM’s are still run by stuffy boardrooms that have the manoeuvrability of an oil tanker. One of the companies that have an “out the box” mentality is tesla. If anyone is going to do anything that incorporates vertical integration then it’s them. How this would go down with the EU is another matter entirely.

A trading halt on ASX doesn’t necessarily mean there will be one on AIM tomorrow, so perhaps they’ll make the announcement tonight…

It’s either political posturing to the EU to stump up cash for new infrastructure or it’s been misquoted. I thought the phasing out of IC engines was for new vehicles not ones already built.

MO, for once I’m in complete agreement with you. No sense of urgency is the kicker here. Waiting for the right offtake as per KC doesn’t seem to fit the general narrative. The vw/vul offtake is for pricing at market value so why can’t we. Remember that vul haven’t even drilled a hole in the ground as of yet and they’ve signed multiple offtakes so the KC rationale doesn’t seem logical.
I’m not giving up yet due to the news we all know is on the horizon but my confidence here has been dented by inaction

I’m sure I read that these new converters in Europe are planning on using South American product for conversion. I also watched a group chat last week where Lithium Australia have realised that shipping spodumene to china at 6% li content is a foolish endeavour wrt carbon footprint and are now looking into converting it themselves and then shipping.
So as we can gather from these 2 examples, we as emh shareholders are not operating in a vacuum. Things are changing almost on a weekly basis and we all have to be mindful of this ever changing Li landscape. We need to execute our plans relatively quickly in order to gain some kind of foothold in Europe instead of pushing timelines further down the road. This also applies to CEZ, whom I’ve said for a long time I don’t entirely trust, to get the finger out……

Thanks Tom for your input. Must admit this news has left me a little deflated when it appears that there is no agreed timetable on first lithium between the two partners. This has been discussed on here before when discrepancies were noted between both based on media reports. My question is, if CEZ are not pushing full steam ahead with this project what are their reasons? Baffling.

Mick, I guess we’re looking at a massive reorganisation of the way supply chains are going to operate. We’re in uncharted waters as to how these large oem’s and battery manufacturers are going to go about their business. What I will say however is that those who think it’ll be ok in the long term may just find out they’ve been left at the races and hence no longer have a viable business. Fortune favours the brave and I’m expecting the unexpected in the next year or so……
