A lot of former holders used to say the same thing me included, however it hasn't got any better despite them gaining more royalty agreements. At some stage these patents will run out 20 years from publication and think the first runs out in 2021.

They have to decide if they are a R&D company or a manufacturer but quite clearly they can't do both without losing money.

As I said earlier stop production and concentrate on R&D and they may make some cash.

As you say they should stop production get rid of sales production staff and go back to what they are good at. Research and Development. Revenue from patents should cover those costs, but they will need to develop supercapacitors to enable electric vehicles utilise the quick storage of power from regen braking whilst increasing capacity of supercapacitors. Go back to basics otherwise they will not survive long term on existing patents.

So have they renewed the patents?

They are long term licence agreements, they had up front payments and receive royalties on what Murata and others sell using CPX patents. The patents CPX have will eventually run out unless they can renew them, if they run out any company can use them without having to pay CPX. Anyone know if they managed to get them renewed.

Unfortunately Kongats gave away the patents too cheaply at the start, they now have companies who can produce cheaper products than CPX using CPX patents. They can't even sell the company as no one will want the likes of Murata and others having access to the patents.

All a bit of a mess which is a shame as they could have been a top company, best thing for them to do now is stop all production reduce staff to a minimum and just take the royalties they may just about break even or make a small profit.

Production of their own capacitors just isn't working.
