it's possible the shorters are playing a game here. Some cleared their short holdings. Everyone buys on the rising share. When it reaches a certain price some shorters kick back into action. No short position has fallen since Feb 22nd. So 89p or so may have been the bottom but other shorters may see 120-140p as having value to short the share. Many were happy to short at 100p. When the results come in on 20th March they could go for the jugular here. Like they did with the trading update. They could even release a new report. The results will have to mention the csc agreement. They will bite on any admissions here. Of course they might let share rise on results and then short heavily afterwards. Of course the directors could all buy in? I somewhat doubt this as they are all on pretty good deals and most have a lot of share already from IQE's performance over last few years. I wonder also how much these shorters were working together or if it was 8-9 firms just deciding to target same firm? IC are right about risks here. High risk but could be high reward if the shorters are wrong.

Share has recovered nicely from �0.89 to �1.30. The short positions above 0.5% here have not shifted hugely since 22nd. World Quant up 0.03% on 26th. Who knows what positions below 0.5% are secretly being created and closed behind the scenes. Volumes today are really small. A reflection on the weather rather than anything else. Seems to be some positive news feed in the background. See what the results bring. They are still limited by production for now. Still some questions over the accounts for some.

WorldQuant -They increased short by 0.02% on Friday to 0.7%. Suprising? They have always hovered around 0.5-0.7%. I don't think this will change much.

Just feels people are dumping this share. Touchstone investors maybe? They effectively got shares for about 148p or so. They have since lost 38p. Was the merger to save Ip group? I still wonder about Oxford Nanopore. Is their research now outdated and worthless? Be interesting to see what if any write downs the results include. Overall it feels like some of these rumours are true by way share is sliding. Still above the 75p the report suggested. Any thoughts? Even at 110p today share is drifting.

Share does seem to be drifting here. Strength of the pound will have an impact here as 50-60% of their revenue is in Dollars. 85p-76p. Not so sure about TU. You had one in December to cover till end of Nov 2017. Would they really do one to cover till end of January 2 months later? Seems unlikely. I may yet be proven wrong. No reason to doubt they are not doing well.

I think Coltrane and Marshall Wallace are holding onto their positions. The low volume in trades here suggests shorters are pausing. All the large trades today appear to be sells. So could be normal trading. I expect no changes in either shorter in next few days based on trades.

Once Muddy Waters and Shadowfall clear their holdings. Assuming both are doing this we may see some shorters retain their holdings. Marshall Wace is by no means dumping all it's holdings here. Unless they are waiting on others to do so first? (They reduce in order they appeared?) There is an article on FT about IQE which seems pretty balanced. Note their opinion on the brokers here. They may only get paid for their time? Pretty sure some of these deals they would be making good money from. This figure is still slightly higher than last year going by the Holmes Report site. See what results bring. I still think one more director buy will appear in Feb. One RNS rule per month. Would have to be in next 7-14 days or so. Current buys seem to be 3p. Sells 2.8p, So a few of these recent trades are buys.

Was interesting to see Muddywaters reduce last week. (-0.25%) Marshall Wace down 0.15% too on the Thursday. I expect to see further reductions for last Friday too. Can't be too sure all the shorting is down here. As there are others still shorting across the pond. So actual figure could still be 17-20%. I think Muddy Waters will be below 0.5% already. They won't want to take a big loss here. So below 9% visible shorts tomorrow is possible. Assuming they are not making a play to get more people to buy? Doesn't feel that way. Shadowfall may also be dumping shares here already. IQE have been pretty good on news feed here.

People are shorting as they believe this is over priced. IC rated this a sell. Stockopedia is suggesting �1 might be fair value. Apparently 5-6 major shareholders have reduced here. Only 1 fund has sizeably increased here at these prices. 20% of the share is supposedly shorted. That is the opinion of many funds here at what the SP might really be worth? Yes they have to buy it back. MWallace paid way over �1 as an average. They were shorting from the peak and everyone was saying they were mad on here. I think they will make a lot of money from this. Of shorts listed in UK. Total reductions so far. MW down 0.43% Valiant down 1.65% Coltrane down 0.2% Millenium down 0.48%. I would assume fully sold out now. With Muddy waters and Shadowfall likely to have increased their shorts. Mwaters at 0.93% At least 2.76% reduced by these funds. The SP is barely above �1. Which means others are happily shorting at the �0.9-1 mark right now. That or American shorts took up that 1.8% difference of those shorts closed. We can guess some shorts would of also closed on Thursday and Friday too. Marshall Wace normally takes 2 working days to report. hard to know the shorters below 0.5%. You are also assuming any news in March will be good news. It may not meet market expectations. Photonics may be up over 100% but other areas are not. See what happens but March 31st is a long way off here. Short term �1 or below may be IQE's share price.

The shorts in the US are not recorded on that webpage? So in effect any reductions we see here could be heavily outweighed by any US shorter? Worth reading this report on Stockopedia. They normally update around 5pm or so. They funds normallyrepoprt the shorts1-2 days after they happen. The site only shows you part of the story as many funds under 0.5% could be buying and dumping shares on a daily basis to force the price lower.
