"The firm, founded by self-confessed former petty criminal James Benamor" - seriously??? Is he out in the prison serving a sentence for his crimes? Any criminal court convictions on his account? What kind of rubbish PR is that? There is one to be a unrully and troublesome youth and there is another thing to be a petty criminal.
Whilst I agree with what the article says about potential ending era for sustainable lending to less fortunate, I do not agree with negativity that comes with such statement.
Also, today's AMIGO is not the same AMIGO that was a year ago under a horrid board that fought JB every time he was pointing the issues. Today's AMIGO is back under professional management, that is experienced and understands both lending market and legal responsibility towards its customers.
If the court decision and FCA will lead to finish AMIGO and similar lenders, then obviously there is something very wrong with this country - we will be pushing more and more people into poverty and generating an income for crime organisations that are not regulated by FCA. Think PROHIBITION, think Al Capone. All thanks to stupid decisions that fuelled mafia's and future drug dealling. As a nation and country - do we really want to go that way and force people into borrowing from criminals and hence fuelling their activities? I don't think so.
