RE: A reminder of the prize4 Jan 2021 09:36
Yes Callum, now I see it, I can remember reading it on the Web site before. The one thing that jumps out at me is that it looks like they couldn't be bothered to update it since June 2016. For example, it is still talking about renewing the PSC in the future sense, when that happened some time ago.
The second thing is that reading it makes 77h sound like a triumph when in fact it was anything but. It cost a colossal amount of money, didn't really produce substantial commercial flows and was the main reason for the falling out with gspc. OK it provided proof of concept to a degree but ultimately it is only when the recommended new techniques are tried that we will know if we hit the jackpot.
Going back to the main point, of why the figure of 18.6 bcf on the tender is so much lower, the answer is we simply don't know. I can remember having this same discussion on here in September 2019 when we first saw the tender and there was no conclusion.
Presumably it means gspc weren't comfortable with claiming the higher amount was recoverable. We do know that ongc have given up on fracking in India . We have to hope that bidders with access to the field data disagree.
