That was meant to be 'hear' not 'here' ... good Scotch has this affect.
Sorry to here you are going through the wars. You are always fun. Hang on in there.
Devon eh. My apologies; at least I didn't mistake you for a Welsh man. Joking aside I am also very fond of the Welsh national park and its people. You can embarrass me any time you like; it helps to keep my ego in check.
Lofty5. When you held shares in AVM you tried to talk the share price up. You have declared that you are at present out. So, you are now doing your best to talk the shares down so that you can get back in on the cheap.Your plan is not big and it's not clever. Those of us who are still invested would rather focus on comments from fellow investors who understand the risk and reward of investing in small companies and can afford to play a waiting game. Entertaining and likable as you areas you are, penny shares are not for you. Why not put your money into big dividend paying company's such a Rolls Royce or Glaxo-SmithKline; or pay into a managed fund. You will sleep better at night. Hope the weather is good in Cornwall, I live in Sussex but visit Cornwall often.
Frankly, I don’t want the management to keep making announcements that push the share price up and down. What matters is the gold price and production at the mines. The company is going through some changes at the moment and will no doubt inform us in due course of their progress. We must be patient and remember that Rome wasn't built in a day. Incidentally, it wasn't built by the |Romans either, they used slaves.
It seems that AVM has caught up with the rising gold price. We look forward to Lofty gold prices. :-)
May I interject? The rising price of gold helps to raise the share price, but it has a greater benefit. The higher the gold price, the more profit AVM make as an un-hedged company. This reduces the risk of the company folding, buying it time to reach its full potential. An upward move in gold justifies AVM borrowing to free it from the hedging arrangement. It means they made the right call. Hopefully gold is in for a better year than last.
Pompeyboy1 "I do wander what use my language degree has done for me" I wonder too!
To judge the such a large national company on an experience with a 16 year old member of staff, seems like a knee jerk reaction. I am sure that among the many others who use Halfords, there are thousands of positive experiences. I have always been please with their service and prices.
I have been feeding considerable amounts of money into Halfords. Bought another 25k this morning. They are a stable share paying a good dividend. UK retailers are not in favour at the moment but they will be. Due to the 25% devaluation of the pound in the last 3 years - good are cheap. Retailers have a lot of potential upside and I intend to hold until they achieve their full potential. Halfords is into bikes, care accessories, camping gear, and car service. It is a balanced and well run business with a good online business too. By the way I don't work for Halfords and have no affiliation with them I just have a lot of their shares.
