...addition to the Board.
Looks like Nick Tripp has been brought in by a major SH as 'their man', no doubt with an agenda in mind.
Could be to aid the financing or possibly pave the way for a buy out. At this low sp, that would not be good for LTH's.
A body blow to the company and I expect a big drop today. However, the company must put the employees interest first and I believe the action taken is correct.
The reserves should see us through and hopefully when this period in our history is behind us, retail will have changed drastically, but we shall be in a stronger place and hopefully the online supply chain will become the dominant part of the business. Don't forget, the Wolfson family have been in 'Mail Order' for much longer than anybody else and could do well without actual shops.
Shame about the divi though, big part of my pension!
...RRE for some time and awaiting a buying window. I have been holding off, but I feel that today's positive RNS and the improving POO mean that the bottom has been reached and the only way is up!
Plus, they are one of the few around not cancelling the divi, what's not to like.
Buy and tuck away.
Seemed positive enough and laid out the strategy pretty well.
I have been holding off putting any more funds into the market at the moment, for obvious reasons, but I really can't see a reason that IOG should fall further.
At this level it is a good opportunity to average down and tuck away.
...been on this board on and off for 4 years or so and averaging around 18p, I am at a loss as to why I should be seen as de-ramping, however subtle.
I must say though, the standard of poster has deteriorated in that time. We never used to get such inane drivel and name calling, or such poor Grammar.
I blame Boris for closing the schools.
...for all retail, including CARD, is that during this period, people may well get out of the habit of actually 'going shopping', look at Laura Ashley, good brand, lovely classic products, but reliant on customers going and looking at those products, in the shops.
My children all buy cards online and I feel that CARD must really go all out to corner this market. With 800 shops to maintain, the costs are going to be heavy and we need to generate income as we progress through this tough time.
Another possibility, bit unlikely I accept, is a T/O bid from the Hallmark group or others.
At least the SP is holding around 30p which, although a massive loss for most of us, does indicate some support.
...the RNS this morning, at least we now know what to expect.
Yes, we are being hammered at the moment, as most retailers are, but the fact that the stores are still reasonably busy, at least in my area, is a good sign.
Lockdown will take a lot of business's out sadly and those who prepare best will suffer least. Although the divi was a big attraction here, a year or so without one will be bearable if it helps the company to survive. That will be the case with most others as well, even the mighty NEXT. who will suffer along with the rest of us.
We will survive and selling up now would only lock in the losses we have all suffered. I have confidence that things will eventually return to normal and although it will be a long, hard struggle, we will one day emerge once again into the sunlit uplands of profitability.
...what exactly is your interest here?
If you're not invested, perhaps you should try voluntary work to fill your time.
I believe CAB are looking for helpers.
Personally, I'm loading up and am quite happy to wait for the upturn once the panic dies down.
