Gold systems in Cameroon19 Dec 2022 08:19
I'm am absolute novice in learning about the geology of gold, and this will likely make Tim and Claire cringe, but I'm going to share what I think I've learnt so that my knowledge can be corrected. Hopefully as a layperson hopefully this will help others.
So, it seems that gold deposits seem to occur around volcanoes. Based on the images I've looked at, gold seems to well in little pockets on the side of some kind of vertical vents (the seem to occur near hot springs too so maybe on the thermal vents where they maybe cool?)

Anyway, so if you're looking for gold, then finding somewhere that has/had significant volcanic activity is probably a great start.
So, it seems the Bibimi deposit is close to the major volcanic system in the west of the country.

But, there is also a volcanic system in the centre of Cameroon. From what I can tell, where the plates seem to meet the volcanic area is where there is a good chance of gold and you can see our license hugs that northern edge of the volcanic system, and it's that bottom right of those license that we have extended and found significant gold anomalies.
What is really important here, (connecting the dots that the BOD mentioned) is that Bibimi is the same type of system and they've proven that out. They are replicating in the same place in the eastern volcanic range and are finding gold in soil.
I now understand their confidence. Whatever gold is in that system, and there will be as it's on the ground, is all theirs and it's a massive area all to themselves.
This isn't question of 'if' at all. There's solid geological evidence that this is exactly the sort of place gold is found and no-one has been there before. Its not like National Geographic gold diggers where they just hit and hope haha.
So, makes more sense to me, if I've got any of that right???
