Takeover imminent22 Sep 2022 00:18
I have titled the subject takeover imminent because I can't see any reason for the fall in SP over the last 6-9 months and at this share price, it must be imminent! As many will know, I have a substantial holding in YGEN - am of course feeling the pain many are feeling. This is nearing madness! With a market cap of £35m, we are at less than 2x sales and less than 3x GP - and we are in a category that is growing and will only continue to grow as healthcare become more personalised.
Each time I despair, I read again the 31 March 2022 glossy, the Capital Markets Day presentation and recent updates. I am convinced we have something here, and it is definitely nothing like a Vialogy. In fact, far from it.
Many criticise the management, understandably due to the share price performance, but I give them a lot of credit for proving their ability to adapt and deliver - delivering record revenues over the Covid period. To be able to pivot so quickly and commercialise, along with relevant certifications, is no mean feat. And now, to have a built a solid and broad foundation for growth.
BUT I am frustrated with the lack of news and the inability of the company to properly merchandise the progress they are making. There has been no notable RNS since EKF in January and Ambry in April. And yet, the number of labs using YGEN products have grown 30%+, three mega-labs are onboard, EKF and Ambry are due to launch next month, Ranger is validated by multiple academics and lab partners, etc etc. Each of these should be announced under RNS on a ongoing basis rather than hidden within investor presentations. Our customer base forms the basis of valuation since we make money from licensing but importantly, repeat consumables sales. Gentech before they were sold for $1.8b did this brilliantly.
Perhaps YGEN has signed confidentiality agreements that restrict what they can say amidst a corporate activity. Unless it is a whopper of a deal, YGEN should dictate certain terms too - we have the technology and products that can make the difference! We need to look after ourselves too.
Anyway, nothing suggests any change in company fundamentals. This has to be best bargain in the AIM right now. Good luck all.
