The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
Am sure will drop back a bit, but this is looking great T.
Sad, I'm being hammered on IAG too and it's not going to end for a long time. Even with a stimulus package offered today it can't solve everything. I certainly won't be crying if Wetherspoons goes to the wall. Just have to focus on the future. By October, November I'm sure we'll be in a better position.
Ocado is a miracle in the midst of all of this, I'll stick my neck out and make MY OWN prediction... we will get to 14 at some point very soon, so any price from mid 12's is still looking very good in my mind.
Ocdo Being pulled back by FTSE, hopefully finish near 13? ASC selling online should recover at some point.
Very dismal out there...might do some gardening later.
Well done Oogle, yes lock them down...moronic parents still walking past my house every day without a care in the world.
When they stop shorters I might believe the Govt. actually cares about anything, let alone human life.
not surprised if negative again but I think v luckiy if Ocdo back in 11's...word is out that they are full to capacity. Thursday should be big.
Well done Sad, yes T, watching...you'll have to see how day pans out to get a low price on Ocdo.
Yes, GLA
Yes, my wife had to wait too, but being "existing customers as we are" at least they are accepting orders. Have Ocdo even got enough vans to deliver all this stuff?
FTSE futures says up 2-3%
Was just curious T, theoretically, I would probably have bought back at about 12 if I was trading, not knowing it was going right back.
He's Terrrrrific!
T, when you sold at 1265, you bought back in later, then sold again at end for 1238...was that right? ...what did you pay second time?
I wouldn't have believed they could go all the way back to 1110.
Well done T, a good day. Interesting tomorrow.
Yes, Italy on hold till later, like you and Tenerife?
Haven't had any refund from Ryanair yet...that git tried to rip off customers last week with FAKE rebooking deal
Was only talking to Italian friend a week ago living in Tuscany...who said "everything fine" then next day LOCKDOWN.
However they seem hopeful, despite the seriousness. What can you do? Over here, wife has parents 94 and 88 who are prime victims.
No T, it's hard to believe someone would would still go on holiday at this point...a lot of people choosing crazy things in order to save a bit of money!!!
I would prefer a shorter Lockdown than a dragged out affair ti next Spring organised by that lunatic Dominic Cummings, who is an expert at NOTHING, but trouble.
I don't have feeling shorting will stop...they love it too much, who do you think Crispin Odey is friends with?????
Too late now anyway. A suspension should have already happenend if they actually wanted to help.
I've said before, 12-ish still not too late to buy Ocado and make money in future.
Only just say £/Euro rate! exchanged quite a bit when was 1.2 earlier this year.
Thanks for your worry T, didn't have anything to say and very down in dumps.
The virus is terrible and very worrying for anyone over 40 really. So sad to hear Health professionals dying overseas and it will happen hear. I'm hoping BoJo will have at least have his day of reckoning.
No point talking about IAG. Personally, I was reassured by their RNS. Was on verge of selling at 50% down but will keep, it might take 5 years, but so be it. Their bottom could be 120 region? I'm just not that good at joining the dots and seeing pitfalls or ways to protect investments. I know you mentioned the virus but maybe you needed to hit me over the head with a sledgehammer and say "F**ing sell them a massive problem is coming"
One very good thing I did was jump back from almost all IAG to Ocado in November. So, am thankful for that. Gut told me I was missing out again.
HOWEVER, Ocado looking great.
And across the board this is a chance of lifetime to BUY others, not exactly sure which ones yet, but MKS 78p!!!!!
They are NEVER going to go out of business.
Whenever this is over, some people are going to be very rich.
Looks like I will get back into trading territory and that figure of 20 is def. not out of realms if we keep this pace up and food supply can continue. Even if supply disrupted customers will still want it delivered.
GLA
Nice one T, good price
Hi T,
I think we are onto a winner with Ocado. I actually read something good on Motley Fool for once...regarding the rest of the decimation. "Don't sell your shares! because human instinct is to panic. Things will recover. as they have in the past"
I hadn't bought Ocado as a safety net, but looks like it's turning into that. Their robot warehouses are going to be a lifesaver over next few months. I think I deserve some good luck and two fingers up to all the naysayers of past few years.
Good to see Ocdo holding up
Don't panic S, can't you leave everything and wait til later in year?
Things can improve. It's obviously a bad time to sell, don't get sucked into the vortex.
FTSE under 7000 isn't going to stay there all year.
I did also lose money in 2008 as well and no, the banks have never recovered, but they are totally transformed beasts. I think even if IAG went to 4 or even 350 it wouldn't be out of the realms of possiblilities to return to 6 within a year, yes it's going to take a hit, but not an insurmountable recovery. If Ocado can stay above 10, then there is confidence that with some better news later in year, it could come good again.
I've got most of my money on Ocado and seeing that it's not related to the virus, that bothers me most, with such a change in sentiment so quickly. All is not lost just yet, as we saw with Easyjet last year, a company can recover from 850 to 1500 in a matter of months.
Good luck to everyone.
Hi T, hope you well.
I'm down a ridiculous amount, so just putting head down, there is no way to trade out of this and CGT not worth binning shares to save £1000-1500. Just have to learn a lesson...obviously. I did tell myself FTSE 7600 was high probably drop back to 7000 at some point, well before the virus appeared...but didn't heed my own advice, nor did I keep back money as I told myself. Not really any proper logic to what I've been doing.
You did say you had been burned in past so I suppose you become more conservative in investing? more risk averse?
Our place is 1 hr from Pisa, just contacted someone I know and so far not the same panic there as reported near Venice.
Police over there ALWAYS have their machine guns out waving them at people, virus or no virus
Hoping to still go in April, but if some kid of rationing starts or shops/restaurants closed it might not be much fun..I'm not really expecting that...I mean we'll get the same in UK
Thousands of Chinese working in city of Prato next to Florence... that will be a hot bed if anything kicks off.
Despite everything, I'm still a bit surprised Ocado down quite so low. No idea where bottom is, but possibly slowed a little.
