Just for clarity the potential market for SGC alone is £1.5 billion per year with several big players (eg Pfizer) having an interest. AVA6000 has been demonstrated to be safe and has shown efficacy beyond any other emerging therapy. There is no treatment currently available, no other established chemo works.

I should add this is exactly the same pattern achieved with AVA6000, where the plasma half-life is around an hour but is significantly extended in the tumour microenvironment. So again, there is limited circulating drug to cause side effects and it is concentrated into the tumour; the ratio of drug in tumour versus circulating in the blood stream been calculated to be in excess of 100:1. The net result is that it halts tumour growth in patient cases where no other drug has any effect at all.

It means it remains in the tumour where it is supposed to be for 5 days, whereas the circulating systemic levels fall to zero in a couple of hours. By only remaining in the tumour all the of the other toxic side-effects that could arise from it continuing to circulate in the bloodstream are minimised, making it suitable for use a drug.

A median progression free survival can’t be calculated yet as the patients are still alive and still static with respect to their disease.

That alone would be good news but in addition 9 patients had clinically meaningful shrinkage of their tumours !
