The threat of covid restrictions coming back has the travel sector jittery. I'm not adding as I can see this going much lower if the rise in cases continues to escalate. The WHO is closely monitoring the situation but it doesn't look good.

The US distribution centre will prove a game changer. The warehouse is enormous and it's slap bang in the middle of the most lucrative market of them all. Once up and running, Boo's fortunes will rapidly turn around. On a separate note, there has never been a bear market in history that hasn't ended with a bull market. Charlie Munger recently scoffed at talk things are tough right now, saying those of us who lived through the great depression know what tough really looks like - and that today's troubles pale in comparison to how bad things were back then. And the great depression ended with an historic bull run. So not only will Boo's fortunes turn around helped by the new US distribution centre, at some point soon a new bull market is going to get underway. And that's only going to help propel the stock even higher.

All Jtan has in his armoury is ad hominem attacks. This is why LSE are removing so many of his posts. If he keeps abusing chat rules in this way, he risks having his account suspended. My suggestion to him would be to stop the personal attacks, focus on the company and grow the hell up.

Pokerchips, thanks for your reply, hopefully we won't see another lockdown but I do fear mask mandates and social distancing is almost certain to be enforced again at some point, probably in the next 6 months. Ministers are already making plans to enforce new rules in response to the huge increase in case numbers we're now seeing, and this new strain is extremely concerning as it's very virulent and highly transmissible. It just doesn't feel good to me, I have a bad feeling about it. If restrictions come back, travel shares are going to tank, as a holder it makes me very nervous.

WHO 'really concerned' about COVID situation with 'intense transmission in several parts of the world'
The Omicron XBB.1.5 subvariant which has been identified in more than 25 countries, including the US and UK, is the most transmissible yet, says the World Health Organisation. Meanwhile, China's recent COVID outbreak is predominantly led by the subvariants BA.5.2 and BF.7.

The World Health Organisation says it is concerned about "risk to life" in China amid a surge in COVID-19 cases, while in Europe and the US the Omicron subvariant XBB.1.5 is spreading rapidly.

On Wednesday, the WHO confirmed XBB.1.5 is the most transmissible variant so far, but said so far it did not appear to cause more serious illness.

It evolved from the XBB variant of Omicron, itself a fusion of two different BA.2 variants - BA.2.10.1 and BA.2.75.

Speaking at a news conference, WHO director-general Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the UN agency was "following closely and assessing the risk" of XBB.1.5.

"We are really concerned about the current COVID-19 epidemiological picture, with both intense transmission in several parts of the world and a recombinant subvariant spreading quickly."

More than 40% of COVID cases in the US are now caused by the XBB.1.5 variant and scientists have warned it could be the one to "watch out for" this year.

It was originally detected in October 2022 and has now been identified in more than 25 countries, including the UK.

As a concerned investor, I have every right to air my concerns Jtan. Right now, I'm concerned about a lot of things. Huge debt, a share price that's been in terminal decline for over a year with no sign of reversing, poor dividends compared to other FTSE companies - and most concerning of all. the ongoing and growing threat of mask mandates and social distancing measures returning due to the huge increase in cases of a highly transmissible new strain of covid which could very easily ruin the travel industry at any time.

3p is terrible. BT pays double that @ 7.8p and persimmon homes pays more than virtually any other FTSE company. NEX has performed abysmally over the past year so not only are most lths massively underwater here, the divis are also amongst the lowest of any ftse company. It's enough to make anyone want to sell up and move on.

New Covid variants are sparking fresh health concerns as Omicron relatives XBB and XBB.1.5 have led to a surge in cases in countries worldwide.

The XBB.1.5 is the highly transmissible version of Covid that caused cases to surge in the UK last winter. The variant, which was first detected around New York state in late October, is behind 40 per cent of all Covid infections in the US.

It is estimated that the XBB.1.5 is spreading more than twice as fast as the BQ.1.1 variant, which is one of the common variants found in the UK, The Guardian reported.

The variant has an unusual mutation known as F486P that is helping it spread at a rapid speed.

The variant has been detected in the UK, with surveillance suggesting it makes up at least 4 per cent of the coronavirus being sequenced

Jtan isn't having a good start to the year. He admits to being over invested in NEX with an average of £2.50. So he's sat on a 50% loss (is probably at least £10,000 down) lol

There's a high risk this will go into administration. The assets would then be bought at a knockdown price and the company taken private. Shareholders would be left with nothing. The same thing happened with Koovs.

I bailed when I saw MTRO sink and piled in 86k at 357. Took a 30k loss there. I put my last 46k in here at 780 so it looks like had I stayed with PLUS I would be more than 30k up with divis etc i.e.125k. So from 125k to 0 hurts. A lot!!"

Not sure it makes any difference Moonman. Debt here is horrific. And that means only one thing for the share price: further downside likely.
