If you call having a positive or negative view on a company ramping/de ramping then yes I do have views. On HL I am reporting on my personal views as an (ex) customer. I made a decision to move away based mainly on costs for me and others might also save on the same basis. Just like someone might say buy your milk in lidl cos its cheaper than Tesco (Im not sure that this is actually true but you get the drift) I have reported the facts of the transfer which have not gone well by HL's own admission. I suspect that the whole process could be improved just as they are doing with bank and energy transfers. As for deramping Debs I hold this as you know, why would I want to lower my own holdings ..... even if I could by posting comments on a bb. Yes I am negative on bby but had them on my watch list and also because I hold Clln and there was talk of a possible merger even if it was squashed within days. Maybe its because I hold a lot of high yielding shares, which by definition are struggling for one reason or another hence the high yield means that the news for them is mainly negative. If it wasnt they would be rising and the yield would fall and I wouldn't be interested. I just wish HL's service was as good as the SP rise you mention I am willing to take tips on the difference between a view and a deramp.

The cynic in me when I read the rns this morning was that having rejected the offer things have just got remarkably better. Its a "Directors valuation". I also thought that clln might have seen the value but apparently didnt get to see the books. Maybe if this was independently audited I would be less cynical but then again maybe its why the BoD say the deal was opportunistic and rejected it. Hopefully for the holders the figures stack up and its supposed to be a conservative assumption to boot.

courtier, glad you found it interesting. I suppose if your looking to trade some of your observations are valid. Ref the US, they say we are separated by a common language and having worked with some of our cousins I do find some of them strange, some stupid and others rather clever. I suppose the same can be said of us though. As I am not trading the time difference is not an issue to me and might be better to prevent me dabbling. The tax, once the form has been completed is straightforward with them taking 5% more in tax than the UK. The currency risk will always be there and I suppose you can try and play the system a bit although I haven't. It does offer some diversity from the UK as an offset and I still love the Qtr divi. Enjoy spending your cents, where ever they end up.

An unexpected surprise when I arrived back, a letter from HL. It appears that there administration was not produced in good time, did not chase for an extended period of time bla bla bla. They do share my frustration though! They continue that they have waived the (unlawful) exit fees and recognise I have not received the level of service befitting of HL. They would like to add a further payment of £150. This is before the FoS investigation is complete! The saga continues but is moving closer to an end

Just logged on today and found that my final fund has now been moved out of my account. The new provider says it should show up within 3 days and any cash within 3 weeks. So one more update expected and the outcome of the FoS investigation.

The uncertainty with this so called aid convoy and the shooting down of a mig 29 wont assist the situation. Maybe Hnt should do a good news pr channel.

It was doom and gloom for this share and the outside world. Then some big buys and an update that wasn't as bad as feared. The outside world started to get better dragging most things up. Then late Friday............. We have a couple of days for things to sort themselves out but we might end up back on the rollercoaster.

Had a quick skeg of some of the improvements. Its looking a better prospect for people starting out. Some of the cuts in charges were one's I considered over the top anyway. So only coming back into line with others really. Some useful changes to website I might have a play with. still not competitive with the other two that I have moved too so its not going to bring me back but it might stop the rot for some. Attracting new investors is a smart move but then when costs become a bigger issue they might swap too. Maybe the churn wont be too bad as most people are lazy and moving was not so straightforward in my case but the is room for improvement. On a PE of over 30 and low 2% yield this is not my type of share but it has done well in the past. Its where its going in the future that matters though.

You do what you think is best for you is always the best policy. My comments on HL. are mainly aimed at the costs they were charging and why I moved. The share price is not going to me moved by me leaving but it might if thousands are doing likewise. The other side of the deal means I hold Clln. I thought you had BBY so could exchange opposing views. I fancied this for the divi, you know how I like a good divi. Anyway your not holding. The bid has just muddied the water for me and increased the price, not so great if you want to buy! Anyway the saga continues but I suspect there is a lot going on behind the scenes to act in both directions. Im still not fully convinced its what Clln should do with my money but that have had good form previously and seen as good management. Although this could be a fish too big and sink the boat! I cant see me buying in here now at the moment until things settle down so I will have to settle for collecting Clln divi only. Although the bid has upped their price too so it looks like I will be holding some cash unless I find summat else to waste it on.

I thought cvc failed with a bid for Betfair last year.

HL emailed me details of improvements and reduced charges yesterday. Each bit started with "Clients requested removal of charges for xxx" My take was the new charges are causing customers to leave and were getting a lot of bad press so were having to change! I like the bit about helping with tax returns but not enough to move back. Might look at it in more detail at the weekend. Off to read the article you mention and as for my hold recommendation it was tongue in cheek, although didn't the sp spike up late yesterday..... Maybe it was that email

I haven't sold cos I didn't have any although its been on a watch list for a while. It might be staying there now selling the best bits and getting rid of the cash whilst still holding all that debt. I like a high divi but .... might be one for a dogs of the ftse play. l think I would like to see how they intend to turn things around till then got just one eye on this.

You can get janges cut n paste free off their site. Strangely on themselves "HL comment is not available for this stock." You might be better buying the stock then using their service. Its cheaper to trade too on Iweb at only a fiver and you dont have to do a minimum amount of trades. Although if they can keep their customers it might pay you to hold those shares. I am still a customer although I am not being charged as I am still trying to move away some 6 months later. Still two funds left to transfer. Apparently there are lots of people moving causing extended delays. (away or towards?) Although some income went missing and they failed to act on instructions once too which has not helped. So its still in my crosshairs. Out of interest are these your broker? or who would you recommend for trading? Whats the difference than investing apart from inactivity fees (I wish!)

On a 250k portfolio its over a grand which will buy a few weeks of groceries! It will get cheaper if you go over by a penny more. I think it was only HL that didn't cope with royal mail. Correct me if I'm wrong. Being unable to trade could cost you a lot more. You can get the other info for free elsewhere or just use HL website. You could even buy some software which will give you more with the savings. At the end of the day its your money and you can choose to spend it where you like. Me I'm keeping more of my money to work for me rather that pay for a service that no better than others. Compound that over a number of years and it really adds up

Yes that yield is tasty, long may it last. Hopefully the new bloke will grow earnings and profit into the company and grow into that yield to reduce the percentage level. A nice round number like 100p should do it. That cuts it to 3,5%

I'm not invested here but have been watching because of the divi. The £200M being "returned to investors" sounds great but is it really? I love a divi but it is above avg anyway. Once that £200M has gone it leaves the company with high levels of debt and hence quite a headwind to improve things. They might be better reducing some of that debt and investing in the business to make it more efficient and able to withstand the longer term. Im sure in the short term the SP might improve on the hope of the sweetener being offered but is it a case of the Emperors clothes?

Well I expect it to trickle down after the froth gets knocked off and the noise dies down. Then in time as the fundamentals get better and the market starts to kick back up things should improve. I will just collect the divis whilst I wait
