I suspect things might continue downward until some better than expected results appear in the figures. Unless as you indicate China takes off again but Stan are divesting. The FTSE 100 trackers should sell in theory. All this selling should drive the price down. Now if I know that and everyone else knows that how do the tracker managers errr manage the situation? Do they reduce in anticipation and hold off selling for longer so as not to sell at the bottom. Do they just stop buying more and accept a tracking error until they can sell or just side load them to FTSE all share holders who can grow the pot with the market. After all this happens several times a year Maybe they are just all lemmings and were gonna have some more volatility

CNA has invested £63m into upgrades of a partially mothballed gas-fired power station in North East Lincolnshire. The South Humber power station, which has been offline since earlier this year, will return to full service in 2017. The upgrades will secure the power plant’s future up to 2027. One down ..... some to go. Thats a start, at least the lights will only be off for 18 months then!

Wolf, I think its down here because things are not going well and it looks like it might be a couple of years before things improve and even then, assuming it goes to plan it will only be average. How much of that is priced in I'm not sure. If it is priced in then, if things improve the SP might follow add China and the market improvement and things might look a lot better. Remember cheap things often get cheaper.

Been away for a few days and when I come back it like the RR board and Valueact infighting on the bb. Was hoping for some thoughts on the "plan" and some insights from those working there and any changes observations etc If I come back tomorrow can we play nice?

Well Im glad it passed but from what I here it only because it changed things part way through. The RI should help and I wondered if this was in part due to work behind the scenes. SP up today but not remarkably as the market seems to be up a tad too. Think Im going to buy my rights but didnt add anymore to have a bigger stake after the fall. Nice to have an admirer Ivan

fund manager for EDIN who took over from Woody when he left has dumped GSK which was in the top ten holding. In fact I think it was in the top 2. I dont know what Woody has done with his in the new fund but it does not bode well. Maybe he sees better opportunities elsewhere as this might struggle in the near term and there is a risk that the pipeline stumbles at the various hurdles along the way

Or better still, switch off the coal and let the lights go out and see the voters clamber for your neck in a noose! What incentive will any of the energy companies have to spend all that money (my money in the case of SSE) unless there is some return? The green subsidies were cut rather sharpish wont the next government do the same again? If the Greens win everything might get flipped back. So how will we get our safe and secure, greener and affordable energy supplies ........... and keep investors, investing?

Rhambo, it might be a short, Questor thinks the same and some brokers also. If you can trust what they say. Having zero yield will help the cashflow and the debt could be reduced to boot. From memory it wasn't that bad anyway. Will things get worse before they get better, maybe but thats what Mr East is being paid to sort out. I think he is following a trend of setting things up to under promise and over deliver ...... but that might be a year or two away. Most people want a return tomorrow. In time China, oil might be back to normal, whatever that is but there will always be something else. Paris in the news today but in share terms its short term noise.

Busateetee, I dont think the divi cut will be announced at the presentation. In fact the announcement on the divi gives them lots of wiggle room on when and by how much they cut, if at all. I suspect it will get cut at some point but giving it longer gives time to see what improvements can be made or happen naturally (ie new orders). The 24th should give us the plan, then depending on how that is perceived things will move on from there. If the metrics dont improve and more delays in orders etc then I expect the divi announcement. If things are going better it might just be a reduction. Free cash flow was in the £150M to -£150M and divi approx £425M so it depends on how much cash Mr East needs for the plan.

has not been much good recently. No point having that without any profits. I would have a record order book if I sold tenners for a fiver. I suspect this is more about cashflow now cos if it wasnt they could keep paying the divi and increase borrowings until things tide over.

I dont think the cut is priced in but the potential for a cut is. I expect it to fall on the decision but the divi was quite low anyway. It was less then 3.5 percent and I didnt really buy it for the divi anyway. Lots of growth stocks dont pay a divi using the cash to err grow. This is not growing though and I wonder what the ROCE is now? The divi was a bonus only for me although I might be tempted to buy more now, if it could afford to pay a divi. I did buy some at 511 on Friday but it was not a conviction buy just tiding my holdings and making room in the ISA for the STAN RI. I know there was an element of kitchen sinking and hoping the update will provide some light at the end of the tunnel but I expect that tunnel is a bit longer than most expect.
