Your reply should be fact based to counter the argument your playing the man not the ball which make you resemble the names you call others. thickasabrick, Yes Im fine ..... well much better than these shares anyway. The right issue gives effectively 618p SP based on current 640p, so I suppose its how well it goes on form here. Current metrics are very poor with 3% ROE but a "new plan" to turn things around. I need to study in a bit more detail and it also assumes the plan will work. Stress tests are also due out and I note they are improving the tier 1 over target after the RI. Maybe they feel it wont go well for them after going through the process and its often whats not said that means most anyway. Big Bill has to do something different anyway and has a plan that will take time (and money) You might be right with your plan too. Sentiment plays a big part looking forward and hopefully things will slowly start to improve. I would also hope that the plan was conservative so he can under promise and over deliver unlike the last lot. The divi cut was just this years final and is "planned" to be reintroduced again ............ assuming the plan is on track and the wheels are still on. The wheels are still 30% smaller anyway. You pays your money, you take a chance.

I think it will be announced shortly once the details are out or prospectus issued. Will have to be quick cos its to be completed by the end of the year. ... announced at last. 2 for 7 @ 35% discount and no final dividend. Hopefully this change in tact will make the company stronger although it looks like it will take a walloping in the short term. So I wont be able to reinvest the divi to buy more and will have to raid the pot to take part.

Roadrunner, glad your getting gremlins posting too. I think that despite the headling profit for the quarter behind the scenes things are not too bad considering the oil price has halved. They are cutting back in lots of places, operating ok at $60 oil and can take steps to move things lower should it be needed. The divi is maintained and cash flow looks good. Should the oil price rise things will look much better but they began down this path some time ago and its paying off. Once the merger is complete the share buyback can be restarted again reducing outgoings for the longer term. Nearly 7% compounded and the savings start to mount up and cheaper than paying off debt. So cost cutting and focus of cash and profits seems to be working. Gearing up 1% and ROACE and the negatives that stick out to me and even then the gearing is quite low generally and it give them time to change the other metrics (Now how many times will I post this and what order will it go on the bb?????)

Data breaches becoming daily. Talk Talk in the news recently and now M&S. Morrison's was a disgruntled employee. I expect all will be fined but its the share holders dosh they are taking in reality. The employee got 8 years and they should be going after him for compensation. We are becoming like the states, suing someone with money to pay rather than the guilty. Wont get much out of that 15 year old either, will any of his fellow hackers have dosh to pay up even if they identify them. M&S looks like a mistake but they will be fined never the less. Not sure how to deal with that one, smaller bonuses for the board? Still you cant keep it totally safe at the moment but as the issue gets bigger more will be done. Till then, fines for shareholders will be the norm.

Not so great for me, The rise makes me not want to top up, hoping it will fall back again. I expect my view will be in the minority as most want the SP to go up. Still, yield is above average even at these levels. Market liked the update.

I think they will stick with the minimum "promise" (that comes with caveats) keeping the extra to reinvest, reduce debt or keep more of the property. This should give them more wriggle room in case the horizon changes or there is a set back in the plan. Could you imagine the cry if they had to pay a reduced divi again after upping the next one. I suspect that they will pay the minimum so they can slowly increase it in line with improvements in the figures. Hopefully taking a longer term view of whats best for the company. All to often boards are being forced to deliver now at the expense of tomorrow. Lets keep it growing stronger today and tomorrow and the SP and more importantly the divi will follow

I was referring to "normal" share holders who buy a set amount for a quid or whatever their broker charges but have to buy on a set day at a price of the day, unknown at the time. Topping up every month you would get more shares if the price was going lower. Now play nice or I will tell your mum

Its been happening the last few days although will have been planned much earlier. I suspect this is due to the unethical things on pricing etc Several attacks like this have been happening lately

So I suppose long term is more than medium. ......... unless there is longer medium term and extra long medium term etc. The point I was trying to make was that when in buying mode, it would be good for the SP to be lower. Those on monthly share saver schemes might agree also. Its just that most people want the SP to rise but I suspect those are the ones who have finished buying or want to sell. Should I wish to sell I think I would want the SP on the up too.
