Not particularly redt related but what the hell was our gov thinking signing Hinckley off?! £50bln construction cost, and I'm going to conservatively tripe this to 150bln, 150bln for 7% of the UK's electricity needs. In 2015, it would have cost £160bln to install enough rooftop solar panels to power 100% of the UK's electricity needs! Let's say efficiency has doubled and costs halved since then, that's £40bln to power 100% of the UK's electricity needs! Hinckley 21.5 bln per 1%, solar 0.4bln per 1% chuck storage on top maybe get to 1bln per 1%. If you tot it up nuclear makes absolutely no economic sense, no wonder we're in permanent austerity! AND how much cheaper and more efficient will solar and storage have got by the time Hinckley is online, Hinckley is a national scandal
