Meridian Petroleum (MRP) the highly profitable Oil and Gas exploration company, whose share price is IMHO oversold. It is nice to see Meridian Petroleum share price moving to the upside, with a monthly Production Report due out any day now, we can expect a lot of interest in this stock over the coming days. The new 6 for 1 consolidation of shares should allow institutions to purchase blocks of stock, which are at the moment fragmented in the hands of private investors. With the spudding of new wells due in the next quarter to expand the production output of oil or gas, in 1p type fields; with an excellent chance of success. Mr Gutteridge has a track record in the oil and gas sector that stands up against anyone’s. He’s put in the years at Shell, Amerada Hess, and the International Petroleum Exhange (IPE). More recently he headed up Star Energy, a rare success story in UK gas storage. He came onto the Meridian board as non-executive chairman back in April 2007, but it wasn’t long before he realized that he’d have to take more of a hands-on approach than he’d initially expected. Mr Gutteridge has some sympathy with the state that Meridian got itself into before he joined: “You could say that the company was unlucky with some of its early wells”, he says. If you check out the News for Plant Offshore Group (POGL) you will see very good end of your final results with great growth potential. I think the move in price is due to the continued buying of the stock by people see the potential growth. I think it may also be due to expected good news at the scheduled AGM, which is due to take place on the 16th June 2008. I hope this helps.
