Quashing Rumours31 Dec 2007 08:35
The Co has issued a statement this morning, quashing weekend press speculation, that Turf TV, the betting shop racing service operated by 31 racecourses, including Cheltenham, Newbury, Goodwood, and Alphameric, under the name Almagated Racing, has not signed any more contracts, other than the recent Coral deal, until potential offer approaches by interested parties are concluded, Ladbrookes was mooted as having signed up to Turf Tv thus challenging the Satellite Information Services (an almagation of Ladbrookes, William Hill, Betfred, and former Coral), William Hill was alleged to be about to announce a deal with Turf TV. The bitter dispute between SIS and AMRAC has been protracted and expensive. My suspicians are that AMRAC will win the day and SIS will crumble leaving Turf TV the only runner in providing live coverage from all of the UK's racecourses. Alphameric stands to gain in the new year as 1st January will bring the matter to a head, as an agreement looks on the cards between all parties after 12 months of bitter squabling.
