The performance of the economy is very relevant to Lloyd’s. I have over 90 different investments in my portfolio and reduced my holding in Lloyd’s by 5/8th a while back. It just so happens that Lloyd’s is one of the most heavily traded shares on the FTSE and so this bulletin board is busy as a consequence. If you don’t like the content on here, you could always vote with your feet and clear off or filter those whose posts you don’t wish to read instead of whinging.

We could always discuss how Labour’s trashing of the economy is going to affect Lloyds share price as it is a UK focussed bank couldn’t we Takayama ?

“Britain’s tax and spending watchdog is preparing to slash its crucial growth forecast and pile pressure on Rachel Reeves to cut spending or raise taxes within weeks.

The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) on Tuesday night presented the Chancellor with its first assessment of the economy ahead of the Spring Statement on March 26, amid mounting claims that Ms Reeves will need to announce emergency measures to balance the books.

Economists warned that the OBR would almost certainly downgrade its forecast for 2024 and 2025 after the economy ground to a halt during Labour’s first six months in power.

Sir Charlie Bean, a former senior official at the OBR and Bank of England, accused her of making a “cardinal error” by increasing the National insurance bill for employers by £25bn in her maiden Budget.

A string of recent surveys have laid bare the damaging impact of Ms Reeves’s tax rises, as businesses have responded by slashing investment, raising prices and freezing recruitment.

Industrial electricity consumption fell by 3.6pc in the three months from July to September, in what is thought to be one of the sharpest on declines on record. Developers made a start on 47 new projects in cities outside London last year according to Deloitte’s regional crane survey, which monitors construction in the central areas of Leeds, Belfast, Manchester and Birmingham.

New starts were down by 27pc compared with 2023.

The number of homes under construction across the four cities fell by 7pc to 23,673, while no new office, retail, leisure or education projects were started.”
