2/3rd is in my SIPP. I’d planned to live off the dividends/bond interest and leave the capital to my kids. The Labour steal will thieve most of that if I make 75 (40% IHT and then income tax) I could get it if the IHT raid was not retrospective but it is. Just theft from those who put money away and want to help their kids on the ladder.

i hate liars too. i love calling them out. i come from a different angle at it. 5 out of 7 new builds are going to immigrants now. is that right ? i live in a fairly affluent town in the south east and have seen locals in tents in the last few weeks.

“AstraZeneca has abandoned a £450m investment in a major UK vaccine plant just days after Rachel Reeves vowed to “kick-start economic growth”.

The drugmaker, which is Britain’s most valuable listed company, said it was no longer going ahead with the investment at the site near Speke, Liverpool, after failing to secure the necessary financial support from the Government.

AstraZeneca has been locked in a stand-off with the Government for months over state aid for the project, which would have involved a new factory powered by renewables built at the site. It had reportedly been offered around £90m by Rishi Sunak’s government, but Labour had sought to cut that state aid to £40m.

The announcement drew immediate criticism from the Tories who said there was “no vaccine for incompetence”.

It was your socialist heros Starmer and Thieves that talked down the economy if you have any memory. They wrecked business confidence. The markets look into the future. Isn’t the Dax at record highs too as their economy tanks. The FTSE has benefited from a weakening pound and expectations of interest rate cut to save the collapsing economy.

Every economic indicator is flashing red. Take your head out of the sand. It’s embarrassing watching your ilk defend the disaster this government has been. No wonder a quarter of Labours voters regret selecting them on the ballot paper last July.

Well it won’t be £2.5bn. Lloyds will quite rightly reduce the buyback and make provision for vehicle commission nonsense scandal.

What does puzzle me about the buybacks is why the shares are being held in Treasury instead of them being cancelled. Just got my head above water with these (71p average). Dividend is still good in yield terms. Fingers crossed.
