RE: Britain's place in the world21 Jun 2018 19:56
It’s gratifying Snige that you don’t spend your days whingeing on here like the chuckle brothers. The Eurozone has many problems of its own including low growth, interest rates at a lower rate than ours, Italy’s banks are a bankrupt ticking time bomb and mass immigration may yet bring down Merkel.
The outcome of Brexit undoubtedly is causing some uncertainty until the final deal is complete. That is natural but there is no turning back now. I think we should have had a Brexiteer as PM to negotiate our exit but that’s another story.
I would imagine most people are happy with base rates at current levels as they have mortgages and for a lot of us, it makes shares attractive due to the yields. Lloyds will benefit when rates rise due to increased margins. I’m happy to wait for that.
As for growth, let’s see if the first quarter was a blip or not. We are behind the USA in terms of the economic cycle. Once Brexit is done and dusted, I think the country has a good future. Living in the past, unable to accept democracy and bleating like DCB and JF spend their days doing on here is counterproductive and for them a waste of time. Brexit in some form is going to happen and we will come out the other side better for it.
