Dividends should be sustainable and progressive. The market sees through one off special dividends. The use of buybacks when there is additional distributable capital is effective, particularly when the share price is perceived to be low. We all know your pathological dislike of buybacks Cuckoo. A clean Brexit should have been the starting point for negotiations with the EU from the very start and let them make overtures to us if they wanted something different.
