One of the reasons I fired my fund manager earlier in the year TFE was that he had half my pension in gilts and tried to assure me that they would stabilise shortly when they started to fall in the spring as inflation took hold. Thankfully I disagreed with him and got everything sold and left him. The pension fund managers are sheep following one another. I can imagine some people are nursing large losses.

As you say near zero interest rates were never going to last. The central banks have been naively stupid.
