WW, the state pension was actually classed as a benefit under the 2014 Pension Act I believe.

Darth, I am a low tax, free marketeer type person who disagrees with tax and spend policies.

Levelling up agenda did not plan for Putin's war. I think HS2 is a white elephant project. Truss's mini budget should have been costed and was badly rolled out but her ideas based on tax cuts for growth are sound. For the record, I would have kept the NI rise because it was supposed to be ring fenced for social care, I was ambivalent about the 19% income tax, but was fervently in favour of corporation tax being kept low. The change of tack is now going to ensure we go into recession.

Why did you not make that point on the applicable thread ?

If HS2 was binned, Truss's tax cuts would have been affordable and would have produced results in terms of growth.
