So if the share price ends this week over 3p higher you would deem the buyback a success ? Forgive me for saying but you’re being very simple. Lloyds shares rise and fall for all sorts of reasons. The share price would be lower had it not been for the buybacks. Try getting your head round that.

Falky, most UK shares were higher in February than they are now. The share price is some 3p lower at the moment than the average buyback price. Hardly a disaster.

How has it been a disaster ? Billions of shares have been successfully removed from the register at an average price not dissimilar from the current one.

I own GCP infrastructure investment ord yielding 9% odd at present with quarterly dividends. Sensitive to electricity prices and interest rates but there’s some good stuff out there now beating inflation at last.

So leave the UK on one hand but back the FTSE on the other ?

Yup it’s small fry. If Lloyds has only one disclosable short of 0.6% against it, it’s hardly newsworthy or concerning.

I’m getting 5 1/2% tax free in my SIPP on the overnight money markets. Will move it into corporate bonds and gilts again when it looks like interest rates have peaked. Lots of good returns out there.
