Doesn't look as if the buyback has started yet. Given that there are likely some natural sellers around (in addition to Octopus maybe), pushing the share price lower, probably good that Investec are waiting until they start buying imo.

Yawksha, I've rerun my calcs and it looks as if I missed one day of the buyback. So now, after today's deal, I reckon they have bought back 4,643,000 shares at a total cost of £2,546,097 -- so £453,903 to go. Hope they tally with your numbers.

.. is back. 30k bought in today after a 6-7 week pause. By my calcs, there is still another £513k worth of shares that can be bought in under the current buyback plan.

I hadn't realised that Nortrust was such a well-used nominee company, but I would have thought that the beneficial owner of the shares (i.e. Aberforth) was probably more relevant than the named shareholder. Again, I'm being picky. It's your list :) Thanks again.

I don't mean to be picky, but... Nortrust is just the nominee shareholder, the name means nothing. Probably more meaningful to note Aberforth as the largest shareholder imo. Thanks for setting them out.

Thanks ValueS. I'm not sure you have the Nortrust and Aberforth positions right either. The last holdings RNS (20th Feb) suggests that they are one and the same -- or, more accurately, that Nortrust is the nominee company that Aberforth uses to hold its shares. So you are double-counting if you include them both.

Interesting holdings RNS this evening. IG Markets now holds over 3% of the company, up from none reported, via some sort of derivative (equity swaps). Place of completion of the transaction.. Krakow, Poland... I assume that we'll find out the identity of the individual behind that trade over the next day or two.

5eights has been quiet for a while. I assume he's/she's still collecting inside info on where the shares are really held. Vanguard actually owns 100% now, maybe?

There is still over £500k left on the share buyback. Hope they'll be using it to defend that 50p support level.

Agree, Yawksha. If you look at the holdings RNS's over the last 18 months -- Converium Capital increasing (now 6.1%), Azvalor increasing (now 10.1%), Aberforth increasing (now 14.3%), 3G Capital increasing (now 10.1%), Aberforth increasing (now 13%). Platinum may still be selling, maybe Clearbridge (previously Martin Currie) too. But generally some large stakes are being accumulated imo.

Thewakokid, if you watch that discussion, you'll see that Paul Scott also has a concern about the amount of debt, but ultimately he is very positive about the company.

Converium were agitating for a sale of the company 4 years ago (https://propertyindustryeye.com/foxtons-urged-to-out-itself-up-for-sale-by-activist-investor-open-letter/) -- I doubt their thinking has changed

Still £533k worth of shares still left to buy in the buyback. Last buy was 22 December. Maybe they are hoping to pick some up on the cheap after the update.

So you agree -- no takeover talks at the moment. Good. Maybe you can stop banging on about US investors, vanguard, etc. All unfounded speculation.

The chairman just bought 100k shares, so clearly no takeover talks going on at the moment.

Not sure what's going on with the buyback. The share price was down 10% first thing and yet they still only manage to buy 20k shares at 54p. You would have thought they would have gone all out given today's price gyrations.
