initially, they're not going to try and prove up the entire exploration target of 26.4 –32.2 billion tonnes. concentrating on the first 50m at thomas and cosgrove, i think the target was >4.9 billion tonnes.
assuming 5% tio2 average, that's roughly 250mt tio2.
rutile is worth $1,772–$2,100 usd per metric ton (call it $1900). anatase $1500ish.
so, if after capex and opex they only made $100 (random number, plucked out of the air) per tonne, that's $25billion profit on less than 20% of pitfield... *** packet maths, btw.
