not sure you've told me anything new in both those posts publican, so hope that didn't take too long to write them. as for trading, do you even know what that entails? because trading small caps like rmm really doesn't exist. there's no way you can get a read on anything because the volume is so small. it also takes a long time to build anything of value, and if the **** hits the fan you take quite a big hit on the way out the door. i learnt that lesson in rmm. but tell me, did you hold all the way into administration? as for shg, well i currently have 3m shares @ 9.98p so have taken quite a big position on this going up based solely on our 2 x producing assets and zero net debt. wk is simply an extra 10% value if e get good drilling results. i'll also likely move some more money across post ex-divi in my other major investment - i3e. fwiw i've been invested there for over 3 years with no less than 3m shares. so hardly a trader you t!t.

as for getting in touch with the company. i'd say that's pretty normal behavior for people who are invested and have just seen that youtube film. your opinions on whether this guy can block our wk project are just that, as you have no idea whether county approvals are required for a mining license. and it's quite clear for all to see that he's had a -ve impact on our sp today. i'll drop the company a line and let the board now if i get a response.

Not sure why we would be building a processing plant in another county, which seems to be a key reason it has p!ssed off local politicians. And to be honest it makes sense. Shanta need to work with national and local governments if they want to get this project off the ground. Otherwise it will be one of those classic African scenarios where the locals block everything. Explain why we've seen the sp drop today. They need to engage with this local and give him what he needs. No doubt the gold refinery would help as it will give him another opportunity to get his fingers in the pie. Hopefully this won't over-shadow what's more than likely going to be some stellar exploration results in the coming weeks / months.

you're probably right bonker, but £40m mcap is hardly something to be happy about. this company is a run by absolute jokes. i traded here twice on db bull**** and made some money. each time i got out just before the next pathetic update. that's the way i've made money here - buy on bull**** and belief, sell before reality check.

it's incredible how a company like hum can consistently under-deliver and still have so many people believing that next quarter is when it all changes. the only way this reclaims 20p is if gold breaks above $2k and they finally get kouroussa up and running at nameplate and under $1200 aisc. people need to remember that db has given all sorts of production and aisc numbers in the past that haven't come even close to what they actually delivered. there's not much point producing 200k ounces, which i don't believe they'll ever reach with these two mines, when your aisc is $1700-1800. it gives absolutely no leeway for au to drop. and with the debt profile here you only need au to drop another 10% and this company is in serious trouble. a half-witted monkey could do better than betts.

Suggest people on here read David Brent's posts about mgt and poor operational performance. Also suggest you take your money and invest in SHG. Even the smallest amount of research tells you there's light and day between these two African producers. One is high risk. One is next to no risk. Trust fund baby Betts isn't going to fix the mess he has made here.

Does anyone know what impact (if any) the trans mountain will have on our oil deliveries? Will we be hooked up to this as a means to transport our oil? And if so, what is the expected financial benefit?

Terrible what's happening in the Middle East right now. Not sure if it will have an impact on the poo. Although Israel isn't a producer, the possibility of a spill-over with Iran is always present given their support of Hamas. I wouldn't at all be surprised if Iran helped this to unfold. That entire part of the world is a tinder box, and the longer this conflict goes on the worse it can potentially become.

Hi Rocky, sorry I've completely ignored looking at AECO and just gas prices on oil.price.com given they are normally correlated in their movement. You're right, it's not a great picture, which is clearly why no-one is talking about them :) Ignore those comments.

surprised we're not talking about gas prices moving considerably higher in the past couple of weeks. i personally don't see it lasting long unless we get unbelievably cold weather late autumn / early winter. the world is currently awash with gas and the west isn't buying in the same quantities as last year. i'm instead hoping we make another run at $90 poo. i had my finger over the sell button at 15p but felt we'd get another +10% boost when the divi and reduction of capital announcements were made. one of those things that's hard to judge when our sp is capable of swinging quite a bit with news (normally to the downside).

not sure we'll get an ex-divi boost here. the sp has a very big trust anchor and i think it will take a strong production and financial update for believers to return. hopefully we won't be sitting here waiting for q3 updates in november when the rest of canada have released their updates over a month before-hand. such is the track record of the bod not giving a **** about being timely with such things. who knows, maybe they'll surprise us in 3 weeks.

as for the ns, i think it's a complete waste of time and resources. from what i could tell there were question marks from repco / rockrose on the recovery rates of tain. and then there's the very big question marks over how much oil we have in serenity and by extension our recovery rates. i think mgt should stick with drilling low cost, high probability wells in canada with any cash that we have available. the political environment is also a complete clusterf@ck. if you can't rely on a tory government to support o&g then god knows what labour will do. and the chances of us having a tory government in 18 months in next to nil. leave the uk alone and get rid of our ns teams and offices. use the £600k budgeted this year to drill more in canada. or raise the divi. don't care but our ns assets are the equivalent of playing the o&g casino in a heavily rigged environment when we could use our money to invest in sure things. aimho gla

If any of you fellas want to be invest in a well run gold company that has gotten its second mine ramped up and running on schedule then check out SHG. Trust fund baby Betts is, and always be a joke. Comparing him to Shanta mgt it's light and day. SHG is running at 100k oz per annum and will add 10% production next year. For another $10m investment they can produce another 25-30k per year, so by 2024 they could easily be running at +135k per annum. Add to the fact their AISC are closer to $1000, adding more reserves than they are mining, have the highest grade exploration target in all of Africa, and a significant drilling program currently running across all three tenements, then you get the picture. Finally they are net debt free as of now. Share price got hammered by Odey forced to sell down their entire holding. They were the biggest shareholder at the time. Anyone who is familiar with what happened at hzm when Woodford sold down will know what happens next. Read some articles, latest rns and watch recent interviews to get an idea of what's happening at shg compared to this basket case. You're welcome.

WCBS, I understand they're not putting themselves up for sale. But they're most certainly telling the market they're open to the idea of selling, be it a t/o, asset sale, or merger. If i3e did the same they may be able to give the sp a bit of a boost, and who knows, we may just get a bid that works for shareholders and a prospective buyer. Agree that Gear aren't in our league on pretty much every metric, and yet their mcap isn't too far off ours. Says it all really.

I said I'd sell down Tony, not sell out. And my negativity is warranted given how little the bod have done to try and fix our yawning value disconnect. That disconnect is real and significant. And the amount of effort the bod have put in to fix it has been insignificant. They're indisputable facts by the way. And before you say 'well that's your opinion', it's clear and obvious to all they have done little to PR our company (ours because we own it). So I shouldn't need to sell down, they should do better. The other benefit is you wouldn't need to have your tongue up Majid's @ss all the time, although I'm starting to think you enjoy it so much that you'd do it anyway.

Hi guys, just catching up on the goings on since starting a holiday. Lots of interesting things happening, the main one being WTI breaking $90. It certainly happened quickly and long may these prices continue as we're always one of the last to react to anything positive wrt commodity prices. A couple more weeks at these levels or higher and I can see us breaking the £200m mcap (16p) level again. And if that happens I'll most probably start selling down again. Would be great if a bid landed to allow a quick, sure and profitably way out. Horrible when you lose out from holding onto something when you should have sold, and vice versa. GLA

I haven't mistaken anything Tony. You're a perma bull and defender of mgt. That's fine, but sometimes they don't deserve the support, like when we're one of the most under-valued O&G companies in Canada. Our mcap is clinging to £150m when poo is $90 and NOI is likely to break $100m. And mgt are saying / doing next to nothing to evangelize this to the market. That's the current sad state of affairs. T/o is the answer but I imagine Majid is far too happy sitting getting his £600k annual salary for a few more years (not including dividends on the millions of shares he awarded himself). Hostile bid would be brilliant and a great opportunity for shareholders to stick two fingers up to mgt. GLA

Name one O&G company Tony that is on worse financial metrics without significant sovereign or debt risks? And no it's not a poor investment strategy. A poor strategy would be to sell completely out of a company at a ridiculously low valuation given it has a greater probability of correcting upwards. Having said that, if we get back to 16p and poo is still in the same range then I probably will sell down completely. But my strategy of partially selling down here and dropping into Asos with £250k for an average of circa 355p to then sell at circa 425p has paid off quite well for me. All of that money plus a little more then went into SHG at a 10p average. So I wouldn't say that I'm sitting here moaning Tony. However I am p!ssed off with our current valuation and even more so with mgt doing f'all to fix it.

Here's another one for you. If SHG does what I expect and heads back to the 14-15p range and we're still stuck at 13p then I may even shift everything back here. That would mean over 6.5m shares Tony (from 4.75m before the big dump was taken on our sp). Why? Because the probability of this going up 10-20% is greater than most places due to its p!ss poor valuation on fundamentals. Plus I get an income. So although I don't claim to be a 'sophisticated investor' I have done better by moving things around rather than sitting here blindly talking up 'deep value' and defending mgt. You should try it.

Because I'm waiting for an upward correction or a bid. Our mgt team are that f@cking useless the only silver lining is they're going to attract a predator. I've also sold down quite a bit here, as you know.

And 'why are you still here?' is such a weak response to my questions. Tell me, why do you support the bod no matter what they do (or don't do)? I'd think you're a paid stooge if I believed in them such is your blind faith in a bod that continues to show little in the way of increasing your wealth. As for plenty of under-valued O&G companies - show me one that is valued on financial metrics like us that doesn't have massive country or debt risk attached? I was talking about PTAL a while back when it was the only company with worse financial (value) metrics than us. I even recall us having a debate over its relative merits versus i3e. Sad reality is had I invested in PTAL with all the country risk I'd be up nearly 20% rather than down a greater amount here. That's how under-valued we still happen to be.

Tony, with all the good news contained in your last post why are we below 13p? The sp here is laughable and who is responsible for driving shareholder value? And what are they doing to tell the market of the yawning disconnect? I think many lths here are waiting for a bid. I personally have zero confidence in mgt getting us back above 20p unless poo goes above $100 for a sustained period of time. And that's 20p!!! And there's no point talking of 'deep value' here. If we can't break 15p at $90 poo how will we ever get back to the dizzying heights of 20p? I'm hoping for a hostile bid above 20p. They can have the lot for that number. As disparaging as that number will be for many, it's up to the bod to keep someone from taking it off us for such little value. And they seem not to care.

Jesus this company is a joke. WTI is +$90 and we're finding it hard to break 13p. We're being run at less than 2 x NOI ffs. I also find it hard to believe that mgt have nothing to say about what they're doing and planning. Even some interviews talking about the poo and forecast NOI should it continue throughout the year. Or what they intend to drill next and some monthly production numbers. And what happened to the capital reduction occurring in August? We're now at the end of September and still no word on the next divi payment. They probably won't even deem it necessary to give us a Q3 production update, and if they do it will probably land a month after the market has delivered their numbers. I'm literally only holding here for a bid to land, which is the only silver lining to mgt being so useless at supporting our sp. GLA
