RE: No expansion into Chile?13 Mar 2015 09:16
Studies to date, including a total of 253 drill holes, estimate that there is a non-JORC resource in the bay of 116Mt at 0.25% Cu. This amounts to some 290,000 tonnes of copper, plus there are also minor gold and molybdenum credits available. Simple and conventional metallurgical processing methods will be used, and metallurgical studies so far suggest that up to 80% of the contained copper is recoverable.
Taken from CAML earlier today, admittedly slightly out of date regarding Q4 2014 but still quite positive, I am a long term holder here and wish I had topped up at £1.40, keeping a watching brief on this daily now for further buying.
During 2014, CBL plans to perform a pre-feasibility study (PFS) in order to prove up the potential of the Chañaral Bay project. The PFS will look at all aspects of the project including:
The environmental and social impact on the area
The definition of the resource
Investigating the optimal method for reclaiming the sands
The processing of the sands to produce saleable products and a cleaned residue
The safe disposal of the process residues
A preliminary evaluation of the project economics
Given a positive result to this PFS, CAML have the right to invest a further US$3 million to take their holding in the company to 75%. These funds will finance further studies with the aim of upgrading the PFS to the level of a definitive feasibility study to be completed in 2015. CBL expects to be in a position by the end of 2015 to move forward with detailed engineering and construction of the necessary plant and equipment, aiming to commence production in 2016.
